Default IND-UK Members-Only Discussion Group

There is a UKIP members-only discussion group, ind-uk, which runs as part of Yahoogroups. It was started by Simon Muir; John Youles is now the "list-owner" and I am reserve.

Memberships are vetted via an informal arrangement with HQ.

It is a very good forum for discussions, and while you may still get the occasional Troll, it will at least have cost 'em GBP 20 to join the party, so that helps funds...

You join by mailing ind-uk-subscribe@yahoogroups.com with UKIP membership details so HQ can check you out.

There is a similar group for passing round news articles of interest.

I keep urging the NEC to promote it, and perhaps mention it on membership forms, but don't seem to make any progress (and they then moan when this list flourishes!)

After a further plug here, I received an email from a forum member last night, saying he was curious but had never heard of it.

How many other UKIP members are in the same boat? (I suspect most). I'm interested in knowing how many members here have heard of it, and if they have decided not to join, why?

To clarify, by 'member', I mean member of the list, not just of the party.

Yes and resigned, because most of the discussion was behind the times in comparison to this forum.

I dont want to come across as critical of it, but it is not the easiest of things to follow .

There are so many repeated questions and complications.

If it was on this format, but UKIP members only I would be enthusiasticaly all for it.

How about it Spon? Do it for Ol' Olly

3 cheers for Spon, :!: He's our man, :!: If he can't do it nobody can :!:

I found it slow and stilted, hardly any reality of the party was admitted.

The format is wrong for me.

That's all I have to say on it.

I joined but i found the debates near impossible to follow, it isn't instant replies its based on receiving emails, as has been said before if it was based on a proper forum concept like this one i would use it.

You can read the messages, and reply to them, at the website, if you don't like emails. It allows you to expand the messages rather than clicking on them individually, either within topic or chronologically.
