I would like to support UKIP on this, I think they do have a point-- however am I undecided on the issue being a non-smoker. I have a genuine question here: Why should pubs be any different from trains, cinemas, planes, offices, theatres etc?

Answers on this would help me make up my mind, thanks 8)

There is no difference, because they are all owned by individual people or companies who should be allowed to choose whether they allow smoking in their establishments or not.

The reason just about every train, cinema, plane, theatre and some offices are non-smoking is because the owners have chosen to make them non-smoking. This choice is being denied to restaurant and pub owners by this authoritarian government.

Thanks for that explanation, when you put it like that it makes things clearer! It seems ironic there aren't more pub chains (or individual owners) that haven't opened up more non-smoking pubs; when almost all train, cinema etc companies have abolished smoking voluntarily.

From what you say, it would be fair to say it shouldn't be imposed on pubs by the Government. After all-- smoking itself is legal.

There are a reasonable amount of non-smoking pubs where I am, all due to them having a lot of focus on food.

I believe if there is room available which can allow smoking it should be allowed.
