A new branch was officially declared for the London Borough of Hillingdon, on Monday 5th Feb. The new Chairman is Perry Debell.
The branch will include the constituencies of Uxbridge, Hayes&Harlington and Ruislip/Northwood. In a superb touch of irony, the meeting was held in the same venue used by the 'Son of Maastricht' Nick Hurd. |

The 'London' Borough of Hillingdon includes a very large slice of Heathrow Airport (to the south of the Borough).
UKIP could win extra votes in the three Hillingon constituencies (Hayes-Harlington, Ruislip-Northwood and Uxbridge) by campaiging for the Borough to leave the artificially-created Greater London Area (whose Mayor is the extreme europhile Livingstone - presently extending the traffic 'congestion zone' westwards with Hillingdon possibly his next target). Hillingdon is entirely within the Middlesex postal area and the county name rightly remains popular. Certainly more popular than Greater London. Whilst bringing back the actual Middlesex County Council might not prove popular with all council taxpayers in Hillingdon - having a policy of quitting the Greater London area and putting up road signs informing people as to when they are leaving and entering the county of Middlesex (i.e. on the northern, southern and western borders of the Borough of Hillingdon) would be popular with the Hillingdon electorate. UKIP Hillingdon should campaign for this. The other factor Hillingdon UKIP might wish to consider is campaigning against 'asylum seekers' coming into Heathrow and the influx of so many eastern europeans (competing for jobs and pushing down salaries). Members of UKIP Hillingdon obviously (mostly) live within the borough and have Hillingdon addresses. This puts them in a good position to write to the relevant department of the Borough of Hillingdon council using the Freedom of Information Act asking it just how much it pays out (in local people's money) to accommodate asylum seekers and to house 'homeless' east europeans (most of whom will have come in through Heathrow). Once the figure is obtained, UKIP Hillingdon could publicise the matter in local newspapers/leaflets etc. and campaign on the issue at next year's London Assembly elections. |

Thanks Richard, I had a feeling that Wilkinson didn't quite cut the mustard.
Good to see support on here for the historic county of Middlesex. I love it every time I see a boundary post reminding people of the real county. The TV astrologer Russell Grant is a leading light in the campaign to highlight the traditional counties- I'm not sure where he stands on the EU itself, but I'm sure he'll come on board when he realises the plan to break-up England. Pity the Middx cricket team suffered a double relagtion last season... but we live to fight another day! |
