Default Dr. Liam Fox MP says a vote for UKIP lets in pro-EU Labour

Dr. Liam Fox MP, the Shadow Defence Secretary who came third in the last Conservative Party leadership contest in 2005, said on GMTV on ITV 1 at 7.07 am on 4.2.2007:

"I think people who are wanting to vote UKIP, and many Conservatives would sympathise with their general view in terms of european policy, they have to recognise that the person who would be happiest if people went out and voted UKIP would be the leader of the Labour Party. There's only one party that's going to take Britain in the direction that those who vote UKIP would like to see, that is standing up more for Britain's interests, making sure that the decision that effect the British people are made here in the UK. That's the Conservative Party. That’s the simple choice that people who have voted UKIP will have to face if they continue to vote UKIP rather than Conservative they will increase the chance of getting an integrationist Labour government. That’s their choice...All parties have to be very aware of the availability of other choices to voters. We need to make the case that they also have to understand the consequences of their actions.”

Britannist adds: Dr. Fox did not mention that David Cameron has reneged on his pledge to take the Conservatives out of the pro-EU EPP group in Brussels “in months not years”; had dropped the commitment (backed by the last three Conservative leaders) to pull the UK out of the costly and damaging EU fishing policy and had banned any anti-EU Conservative MPs from sitting in the Shadow Cabinet.

* Dr. Fox said last week that there would not be an EU military force. Dr. Richard North, the well-known anti-EU campaigner, said (in his response to the remarks of Dr. Fox) that there already is.

Default UKIP vote up at 2005 General Election at Woodspring

I see from my records that you increased the UKIP vote from 452 to 1269 in Dr. Fox's constituency where you stood at the last General Election.

That was a very good result for UKIP - the UKIP vote actually went down in some constituencies last time.

Fox is right about the leader of the Labour party. But I'm not so sure about the next leader of the Labour party.

Reading again the Cameron article in the Sunday Telegraph I would consider that an ignorant article at best & a partially duplicitous article most likely as he surely does not write such articles in isolation from his senior advisors. He is even content for the EU to do far more in some areas such as fighting African poverty & climate change. How a 'wealthier' Africa (which I want to see) links in with reduced carbon emissions is not explained of course.

Therefore what Fox suggests is all a nonsense designed to mislead potential UKIP voters. Cameron supports the EU now, and wants an EU with more abilities in the future. And 'Europe' is now acknowledged as being far more than a geographical reality...

Fox, wake up please, your leader is dedicated to the very EU that you claim you object to. Unless you are a liar you need to smell the coffee and defect to UKIP now.

Yes, but that cost me about £14 per extra vote.

One of my usually ill-tempered articles on Liam Fox's statements is up at The Kitchen...

Anyone remember "vote LibDem, get the Tories by the back door"?

Even the Tories election strategy is the same as NuLabour's...
