Thanks folks.
He (Mr. Ashley Mote, the anti-EU MEP for the south-east of England constituency) quit UKIP towards the end of 2004 and sat as an independent in Brussels with Kilroy (who also quit UKIP within 5 months of getting elected under the UKIP banner).

Mr. Mote and UKIP have had nothing to do with each other for over 2 years.

For those wanting to read up more about Mr. Mote - you can google his website.

Default Mr. Mote's video recording giving case against EU

Pleasure.

Mr. Mote made a very good ten minute video tape (presumably now available on a DVD disc) giving the arguments against the EU.

I assume that this recording is still available.

Default Shame

I had a feeling that Mr Mote had left the party as he describes himself as an 'Independent', I always thought be was one of the best MEP's.

"Left the party" is putting it politely. He was expelled by UKIP in 2004, just a few days after the elections to the European Parliament, as he hadn't told UKIP before the campaign that he was awaiting prosecution for alleged benefit fraud. However, we can't talk about that case here as apparently it is still sub judice. Amazingly.

I believe that the "Ashley Mote" entry on Wikipedia contains links to some further information on the case, but I can't vouch for their reliability as they are official EU documents.

Default Hardworking

Whatever the criticisms, Mr. Mote is hardworking, it has to be said.

Just to put you fully in the picture ,Ashley Mote`s membership of UKIP was suspended by the Disciplinary Committee pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings against him .
