Default UKIP manifesto

I have just been reading the UKIP manifesto; I have realised that it is exactly what most people around here call for. Nuclear energy, opposed to political correctness, helping people leave benefits, local power.

The manifesto supports everything most people around here support; yet we only have a 2% vote in the last election.

UKIP seriously needs to make members aware of it's policies, that would bag so many votes.

Does anyone else think they should take the "UKIP says" boxes from the website into other media? Such as posters and stickers for members to distribute.

I think UKIP should target not just current voters, but the 10 million or so 'potential voters'. Those that voted up to 1992/1997 but have since ceased. You might do well out of them!

Something needs to be done.

It is annoying that we have the most willingly active and enthusiastic user base I have ever encountered yet no guidance from the management.

The 5 Freedoms Section is great:

Quote:
Freedom from EU

As a country we cannot govern ourselves whilst at the same time taking orders from Brussels. The UK Independence Party will take back our freedom. We will become an independent country once again.

Freedom from Crime

Crime and lawlessness are out of control in modern Britain. This is the message of the statistics, and it reflects the everyday experiences of ordinary people. It is intolerable that successive governments should have allowed the situation to continue to deteriorate. UKIP will address this failure.

Freedom from Overcrowding

The UK population at 60 million is higher than ever before. We live on a small island. Our cities are overcrowded, our roads clogged up and our railways are grinding to a halt. Our doctors' surgeries cannot cope and the hospital waiting lists are growing. New housing estates are covering the countryside. The UK Independence Party will put an end to mass immigration.

Freedom from Bureaucracy

As a nation we are overworked and over-governed. A large part of this extra work comes from unnecessary political bureaucracy. The UK Independence Party will set about reducing government interference in people's lives. In addition, we will give voters the right to decide on many issues of the day.

Freedom from Political Correctness

We are all free born Britons. No politician, no broadcaster, no pressure group has the right to tell us what to think or say. There is no 'correct' set of political beliefs. The UK Independence Party will restore Freedom of Speech.
Haven't seen that before. A step closer to joining...

I like that bit too; the whole website is pretty good content wise. Which is more than can be said for the template.

Do I take it from that tito that you have attended a candidate training session and you are actively campaigning for the May 2007 local elections but find it isn't keeping you busy? If that's so then you're not doing it right!

We are out every weekend and will be starting door knocking during the week as soon as it is light enough in the evenings. Have you contacted your RO and volunteered your services for envelope stuffing or office work? There are loads of things to do but no-one will come to your house and ask you to get involved. Everyone I know in UKIP gives it every hour they can spare and there is still not enough people to do the basics.....if you really are active and enthusiastic then get involved don't just complain about it.....

I highly doubt there is another supporter in my town, and I don't receiving a knock on the door from a 15 year old would do the party any good.

I do stick up posters and shove a few through letterboxes most days though.

I think getting a knock from a 15 year old has 10 times the impact of getting a knock froma 45 year old.

Not only would it challenge people's perceived stereotypes of UKIP members, but it would probably also spur (and shame) many older and maturer adults into doing something...

Go for it mate.

When I'm 16 I might go further afield to somewhere where there are a few others and pick up a few tricks.
