Unless somebody has done an advance poll of those 160 members, then this is just twaddle. If Mr Williams wants to quit, fair enough, but to brief the local and national media in this way so as to damage the prospects of those who choose to stay in UKIP, well that is way out of order.

That's the idea though. A UKIP member scorned, is a terrible site to behold!

We'll soon see if he is telling the truth. If a new branch leader and structure is announced over the next few weeks.

Burning membership cards????

Granted there may be internal politicking and admin' problems, but surely no great matters of principle that justify that kind of talk or action?

The outcome.... another small group being formed... how depressing

Burning cards tends to send the message of nuttery, it has to be said.

I hate to be judgemental of people who I don't know but what the hell.

I am sick to the back teeth of people storming out of this party screaming 'look at me' and writing long pompous letters trying to justify their reasons. If you believe in EU withdrawal UKIP is the only show in town. To walk away is questionable but to seek to do as much damage as possible is a betrayal of the cause.

This should and could have been sorted out by someone in authority.
This branch has been loyal and hardworking ,now it has turned destructively mutinous .One has to ask why this has happened .

I am led to believe it is mainly because the branch has not received acceptable answers to the questions which they put to Graham Booth re the accounts /Ashford etc. Now I haven`t seen the questions or the answers but it is hard to believe that this branch would pull out of UKIP en masse unless they felt extremely hard done by .

Surely someone in authority could have read the "writing on the wall "before this happened. Or were they just happy to let them go?
I`ll put my money on the latter .

It's a real shame - particularly the timing. The RN being cut to the bone, Devonport's future looking very shaky and the only party that should be reaping the benefit of the backlash against the liblabcon decides to have a local meltdown.

Anyone going to add this to the '**** up or conspiracy' list?

Don't worry, I'll be making sure UKIP in Cornwall is making noise about the RN and Devonport.

Where is this change Nigel promised us, how many more branches have got to disappear before something positive happens.
Since when did we believe the BBC!

So Battle for Britain joins the long list of groups fighting the EU Monster. Better Off Out, Campaign for Independent Britain, Freedom Association, Metric Martyrs, Speak Out, etc.

All these groups are no doubt genuine in their wish to see the UK out of the EU but in my opinion they actually do more harm than good. I agree that UKIP shouldn’t waste their time fighting people with the same aim; unfortunately a lot of these organisations don't reciprocate the same support for UKIP. Take the Metric Martyr Campaign, they consistently refused to be associated with UKIP and despite many UKIP Members supporting the Metric Martyr there was nothing given back by them to help UKIP, even to the point Neil Herron stood in the North East Euro elections, which guaranteed UKIP wouldn't be able to take the third seat in 2004. If UKIP are not going to stand against sitting MP's who sign the Bette Off out Pledge before June next year then will Better Off Out endorse UKIP in all the other seats......probably not.......

The more splinter groups and campaign groups that set up then the more fractured the anti-EU forces become and so they are more easily neutralised. Any group that allows people to salve their conscience by appearing anti-eu but which then claims to be "none political" is actually total ineffective and is just a smokescreen and plays right into the hands of the Pro-EU lobby.

Like it or not UKIP is the only political organisation which has any record of success. The other organisations should merge with us rather than splinter away. It’s a classic situation, taking their ball home because they can't score every goal. Ego, Ego, Ego!
