The BBC will try to do what they did with that Kilroy programme. They will show him smoking. If he says anything the slightest bit dodgy, they will empasise it, put it out of context etc.

They will focus on all the bad and leave out all of the good. Nigel has to be prepared for that.

He's seen it all now, so I am sure he will. At least he won't look a zombie like our last leader.

All the people who go with him need to be careful too.

Interesting you should mention the Kilroy programme.

During the Bournemouth Tory Conference of 2004 UKIP held a very well attended fringe meeting.

NF was the main Speaker.
The BBC Gentleman who made the Kilroy programme was there, with an assistant, filming a lot of things; but mainly NF; his speech; his interview with ITN; and some other happenings.

I assumed he was making a programme about NF.
You can imagine how surprised I was when the programme that was shown was about Kilroy; and none of the Bournemouth stuff was included.

There might be an accident waiting to happen; you never know.

The CPS trusted them regarding a documentary in 2004.

Default Nigel Farage MEP in Romania

I shall be watching the BBC 1 Television 10 pm news tonight (22.12.2006) to watch their report on Nigel Farage MEP in Romania (which will appear at some point in the programme from 10 pm to 10.30 pm).

Just thought I'd mention it as a reminder to anyone reading this thread for the first time and who is not aware it's on.

Default Mr. Farage on BBC 1 Television news - Romania report

BBC 1 Television News has just broadcast its report by Mike Mardell about Mr. Nigel Farage MP (broadcast from 10.21 pm to 10.24 pm) visiting Romania at the invitation of the Romanian Government.

It seems like a reasonably fair (balanced) report although that's only my initial impression - I've taped it and will watch it again later more closely  .

Viewers will have seen Mr. Farage dressed very smartly walking among - let's say - very poor looking people in Romania.

He was shown at dinner with the Foreign Minister of Romania and other officials. Looks like everyone got on well - but no straight answer for Mr. Farage when he asked the Foreign Minister how many will come to the UK from Romania .

Mr. Farage remained cynical of Romanian entry into the EU (and rightly so). He criticised the fact that meat was being left on top of a fridge (during a visit to a butcher) - something that would not happen over here (Mr. Farage pointed out).

An interesting report with Nigel Farage cheerful and upbeat but resolute in his opposition to EU expansion. At least the BBC said at the start of the report that UKIP wants out of the EU.

Good to see the leader of UKIP on television meeting the Foreign Minister of what will be an EU member state. No doubt the europhiles will be angry and will order the Romanians not to meet a UKIP person again. After all - from 1.1.2007 they (the Romanians) will take their orders from the EU, like our Government has to.

The overall impression the viewers of the report will have: smartly dressed and intelligent UKIP leader visiting poor country about to join EU and rightly warning of dangers of a mass influx from that country over here.

The viewing figures for the BBC 1 10 pm Television news are an average of about 5 - 6 million. So this was, most definitely, the best piece of publicity for UKIP this year. In terms of coverage - it was worth hundreds of thousands of Pounds in what would have had to be spent by UKIP on advertising to reach the same number of people. 8)

I expect that on a late Friday evening, two/three days before Christmas, the viewing figures will be well below typical.

A BBC calculation?
Treating NF fairly; but ensuring no-one is watching?

What do you think?
Any grounds for a complaint?
