A lot of them tend to be very Eurosceptic.
In most European countries where PR is in place they are usually two Liberal parties one Social and one Classical.

The "old Liberal Party to the best of my knowledge was and is anti-EU! The Liberal Democrats on the other hand are a "Mongrel breed" who are the result of a mix of old Labour and old Liberal combining the worst of both breeds!
One the first vote in the Commons on the EEC as it was then every Liberal MP voted for it.
The SNP and Plaid Cymru all voted against.
Most Labour MP's voted against and a small number of Conservatives voted against.

You are not wrong kernow: the "old" Liberals (as in the breakaway Liberals who did not approve of the merger with the SDP) are anti-EU, but the Liberal party in the 1970s was largely in favour.
