Default Jules Holland

I got a little bit of encouragement from reading today's Sunday Telegraph magazine interview with Jules Holland.

Apparently he is now a deputy lieutenant for Kent. Explaining this in a semi-jocular manner says: "I also keep an eye on our coastal borders, in case there is an invasion. There was a report recently that the Germans were planning to include Kent as part of France in a new map of Europe, and that is exactly the sort of thing I like to keep an eye one."

Default Mr. Jules Holland a supporter of Imperial Measurements

I think Jules Holland declared himself to be anti-euro in 2003 (when the EU Constitution was a mainstream issue - as it will be again).

I'm also pretty sure Jules Holland is a Patron of the British Weights and Measures Association (i.e. the pro-Imperial and anti-Metric measurements organisation).

I see he has put his name to this letter from the BWMA to Blair (along with other patriotic celebs):

http://www.prnewswire.co.uk/cgi/news/release?id=168918

[Incidentally, this letter does, for me, support the view that pressure groups of this sort have achieved rather little and point up just how important UKIP is as a political party seeking to win elections.]

If anyone can get such people on board Nigel can.

If he can't, I doubt if it's for want of trying.

(Of course, Patrick Moore is a Ukipper, and some others have a long history within and on the margins of the Tory party.)

That is almost correct.
Mr Holland is an Honorary Member.

As a point of information.
The BWMA seeks parity in law between Imperial Measures and Metric Measures.
The BWMA is not anti Metric as such. [Eg. BWMA is not campaigning to have car engine sizes quoted in cubic inches.]
The Association opposes enforced metrication.

Don't be so negative.
Just wait and see what BWMA are going to achieve.

UKIP is a political party that hasn't achieved a thing to forestall the EU to date.
It won't win an Election in a million years, either.

An excellent letter (via the link above). Good that among those who signed the letter were:

Christopher Booker (anti-EU columnist on the Sunday Telegraph), Jilly Cooper (author), Sir Ranulph Fiennes (explorer), Sandy Gall (former ITN/ITV newsreader), Jools Holland (pianist and television presenter), Prof. Richard Holmes, Vice Admiral Sir Louis Le Bailly, Sir Patrick Moore (astronomer, UKIP patron and television presenter), Sir Tim Rice (lyricist), Andrew Roberts (Historian and eurosceptic political commentator) and Antony Worrall Thompson (chef and television presenter).
