I don't think it is natural for the young to be interested in politics , perhaps a few of the 'nerds' might be. Most teenagers in this and any other era are only interested having a good time (and so they should) wondering whether or not they'll always have spots, wondering whether the girl/boy they fancy, fancies them. Teenagers who are interested in politics normally have extreme views and like all teenagers on any subject become "Experts" on any subject almost immediately!

Partially in reply to Kernow.

I don't think it is very helpful to tarnish young UKIP supporters with the nerd label.

There seem to be a fair few UKIP youngsters on this forum and we here are only a very tiny minority of UKIP members/supporters. I'm certainly not an old bloke either. I seem to recall some survey or other that said young people are more Eurosceptic than middle aged people. Regrettably I don't recall where I read that. I must be getting old.

As a teenager I supported the broad concept of UKIP well before UKIP ever existed. I didn't & still don't consider my views extreme and as Kernow suggests most of my contemporaries weren't very interested in politics. That didn't make them or the teachers agree with me but they didn't despise/condemn my views either. I suspect things might be rather different in the schools of 2006.

Sadly if todays young don't show an interest, tommorows young won't have a country to "have fun" in.

The older generation that handed out country over to the EU have let all following generations down badly.

On your watch Kernow, you allowed Britain to be stolen from it's people. If the young don't sacrifce some of their fun now to make up for it, then future generations won't have the option of fun.

Agreed! But it would be very naive of UKIP or any other political party to put too much faith in hoping that an army of teenage budding politicians if patronised, will rush to their cause. I've been a teenager  have two children who were teenagers and one child who is a teenager, all three are sick to death of their "old man" ranting on about politics and UKIP!

Right, that's it then. Sod 'em, there's no hope.

Try a little main stream, some big band jazz, some humphrey lyttleton and finally brubeck's Take Five. There's something in there somewhere to appeal

Unless they are philistines, oh I forgot they're young. Flog 'em.
