Mark Croucher says James Whale has joined UKIP and is seeking nomination as UKIPs candidate for Mayor in the editorial.

Ofcom are about as powerful as the electoral commission, useless idiots who haven't the balls to sort out the big three parties for finanical irregularities that would see prosecutions against any smaller parties (who are on the whole much more competent). Unless Whale is indecent on his radio shows there's nothing OFCOM can do.
What could stop this, is the NUJ and his bosses. If the PFA think UKIP is racist then you'll have fun convincing the NUJ you aren't. The NUJ got involved when Whale's colleague Mike Dickin had some anti-immigration bloke from America on his show and almost revoked his NUJ card. This would have resulted in dismissal as most media outlets require you to be a fully paid up member for employment. Dickin subsequently was moved from his dinnertime show (Jon Gaunts slot) to the very late shift at weekends and had to do a very embarrassing phone in on anti-racism. If Whale had to pick between the NUJ and UKIP, it'd be the NUJ every time because for one Whale has more faces than a dice and also the NUJ would ensure he was made to be as credible as Hitler if they are as against UKIP as their comrades in the PFA (Remember Gillingham V Burnley? ) |
