I have been a member of U.K.I.P. for 5 years. During that time there have been several damaging internal disputes which have led to a number of resignations. It appears to me that we need , not a disciplinary committee, but a conciliatory committee or trouble shooters . The people appointed should be well known within the party. They should be respected by the leadership and the ordinary grass-root members. They should be able to mediate and conciliate, after all the people who left U.K.I.P.did not become Euro-philes. They could start their task by making contact with One London, Veritas, Senate and any other group of former members with the the aim of bringing them back into the party. Bruised egos might have to be massaged but our fight to get Britain out of the E.U. is too important for it to be deflected by personal dislike. If the anti-E.U. groups could get organised we would be unstoppable.

This is quite a sensible idea. Whatever happens, these extremely damaging internal squabbles need to stop. People seemed to have learned nothing from the trials and tribulations of the split Tory Party.
It's not a question of being unbiased, it's a question of being sensible; of saying, "this is the direction that we are going in and we would like your support for these reasons."

I think UKIP would need to employ a conflict resolution Counseller or two to make this work, rather than just trusted people within the party. Psychology needs to be taken into consideration and people trained to think and feel differently when arguments arise, to avoid splits. Trusted friends may make things worse.

Make whoever are on the board of the conciliation commitee unable to hold any other posts at any future time in UKIP. Then whoever is on the board cannot use it to further his ambitions. Thus it would be staffed more by people who had the parties welfare at heart than egos.

No; incentives matter. We would get only the most idiotic, stupid and ignorant who were well aware that they would be unable to progress further anyway standing to be on this board.
I recommend a better solution: growing up a bit.

I agree with Christina
Anyone who disagrees with ukips leaders needs to be sent away to be psychoanalysed. Rather like uncle Joe Stalin used to analyse his opponents :?: :!: I think a name for these preliminary counsellours could be Regional Organisers, as they only need report to thier paymasters, it would cut down on paperwork. Alternatively we could have a seaside camp (like "the prisoner") in which dangerous dissidents could be confined. " i am not a ukipper i am a free man" |
