Re Nigel's 1 hour on 18 Doughty Steet on the whole it went well. He is as we know a good TV performer and dealt with most questions smoothlyand confidently, only looked rattled a couple of times especially re Ashford which he defended to the hilt and claimed that it had brought in 11000 new members (????). His views on combined PR/first past post, immigration, blue water between us and BNP etc were well presented. I would think we gained supporters.

He took a risk going on their show, as the tough questions were bound to be asked.
So hats off for bravery.

Good performance - appeared rattled about Ashford, £170,000 petition and being accused of stealing chunks of Conservative policies!
Agreed that local council bye-elections need to be fought. Agreed with analysis that LibDems do well where they have a good local government presence (as an ex LibDem agree 100% with this tactic!) Perhaps no more shameful episodes such as the Shoebury bye-election where the local branch just couldn't be bothered to stand a candidate in an are where UKIP candidates normally get 20% of the vote! http://www.democracyforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=15518 Nigel is doing his part - its for the rest of us to play ours now otherwise Nigel will just be let down by the party - UKIP is more than one man !

Dale is a muppet. He's right at home in the Tories.

Just watched the programme through. I thought Nigel was spot on. You do get the feeling that at last UKIP could get somewhere
I also thought the way the programme was handled by Iain Dale was very good. He actually asked questions and allowed Nigel to answer them! Something of a contrast to the Paxman etc technique. Does the comment on BOO show Nigel is also listening? |
