Default James Whale to appear on London Tonight

http://www.ukip.org/ukip_news/gen12.php?t=1&id=2683

Quote:
James Whale, the Talksport presenter, is to appear on ITV's London Tonight at 6.00pm to discuss the possibility of his becoming the UKIP candidate for Mayor of London.

Nigel Farage on James Whale: "Not only does he have guts, he has an understanding of what people really think".
Wow, it looks like it's going to happen!

Great,if so can somebody who has any info on James Whale please produce some kind of biography and post it on wikipedia, Beacause at the moment James whale on google comes up with 'someone who was openly gay in Hollywood' he shares a name with an actor who died in the fifties.

The late night mouth-of-the-south started his career at Metro Radio in Newcastle, before going on to cause many a producer loss of sleep at Radio Tees and Radio Aire Leeds.

He also made his first break into television with The James Whale Debate in which voices were never raised and toys never thrown from prams as he chaired live studio discussions on religious and moral issues.

In 1993 he moved back to his native London to present Whale On for London Weekend Television, and 1995 saw the launch of The James Whale Show, which became cult late night viewing for millions.

James has won three Sony Radio Awards. He has also written a book "Bald on Top" inspired by his own premature hair loss.

Realising he may possibly be losing the chance to step on more toes because of people being fast asleep during his late night slot, James also has his own column on talkSPORT in which he vents more spleen.

Watching the programme, it isn't a done deal. He is definitely close, but he said other organisations were trying to nab him now.

He had a go about being overtaxed, congestion charges and the masses of CCTV cameras following everyone around. He said he would look to change the vibe of London, having people like J Clarkeson as transport advisor, Peter Stringfellow as entertainment advisor and Lord Archer as prisons advisor. He said he would listen to what Londeners wanted, rather than just pushing his own view though.

He promised that if he won the election he would scrap the congestion charge...
Well he backtracked on that a few minutes ago in the TV interview.

Whale also didn't seem to be bothered whether he stood for UKIP or not; he said he'd received requests from others to stand for them. UKIP was only mentioned at the very beginning of the interview as a party he might stand for because he is impressed with Nigel Farage.

'Hollywood' Whale was a famous director who made Invisible Man with Claude Rains, Frankenstein/ Bride (before leaving the cycle) and the first Showboat. Sir Ian McKellen played him in a film about his final days...

It does say at the top of the article that you need the following link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Whale_%28radio%29

- to be fair, I would expect (until our man becomes mayor), most searches to be looking for the first Whale :P
