Nigel was interviewed about the EU accounts again not being signed off by auditors (on the Today programme today after the 7 oclock news).

Very weak follow up response from some EU spokesperson (Finn I thnk, as they have the presidency).

Indeed. Unfortunately, it was but the disheartening sound of a man calling up for more shovels.Yes. Not only was it pathetic, but hardly in English (and I have no sympathy for the language problems of foreigners trying to run my country). They are of course trying to defend the indefensible, and getting to the stage where they barely bother to try. They know that for all practical purposes the coup has been successful and we can no more challenge them successfully than whales can fly.

Farage has a HUGE problem though, which is that his hypocrisy will be pointed out by the media in due course. He's between a rock and a hard place now: if he doesn't attack the EU's accounts he'll look weak (and frankly his perfomance this morning was lacklustre at best), but if he does, people will point out the issues concerning UKIP's own affairs.

UKIP has had plenty of opportunities to put its house in order now and have clean hands, but it chooses not to do so. The party business meeting was a farce (reportedly); there's been no serious report about Tom Wise's accounts, nor about Ashford, and we have NEVER, EVER (as far as I can remember) had MEPs' accounts published. It's rich Farage calling for probity in the EU when there are matters in UKIP that could have been speedily and simply cleared up - as long as there is nothing to hide in the first place, that is.
