The best interview i have heard Nigel give. and 3 HOURS !!!!! Brilliant.

We could not ask for more. Nigel handled every questions with the professionalism required. I think we will see some new members and votes from that. Very good indeed.

Does anybody know what the audience figures for the James Whale show is?

NF is doing well and has hit the ground running as new leader which is important following on from RK's 'quiet' period. His media presence is excellent, but, as Anthony says, that is not the issue.

Since there is no other game in town it is important that UKIP does well, but leadership is not just about media presence. NF and his close confidantes need to realise that the new members, that good public performances generate, will not stay long if they feel excluded from the internal party processes or they find that there is no local branch or organisation in place to keep their interest. They will be gone in minutes if they are dragged into the perpetual infighting that characterises UKIP (although they have the same problem in some branches of the bigger parties).

I do not understand why NF did not hold out an olive branch to those who disagree with his style or the way the party is run. He is not the only one with ideas and he has no exclusive right to be perpetually correct. If NF intends to lead from the front then he needs to know that there are massed battalions of activists and party supporters lined up behind him. Continued success on radio and TV has to be supplemented by electoral success otherwise it's just another load of hot air.

In the weeks since his election as leader NF, has been everywhere doing interviews etc. and we welcome and applaude him in this.

We need to be aware that he is "news" now but soon he will have done the rounds and will find it difficult to find oportunities to give these interviews again.

I just hope he has the same impact in bringing a democractic structure to bear in the party systems.

If he falls from the news columns it will not be that he is not trying as hard only that if he doesn't find a new topic he wont be wanted back.

I am not sure the publicity we are receiving is 100% due to the leadership election. I think quite a fair proportion is a result of the politics in Britain at the moment.

The media have smelt blood in Labour and are now gunning to bring them down. They are not keen on Cameron who they see as a lightweight but see the Tories as the likely next government (the least worst option/better than Labour as they see it). The Lib-Dems - well the media have never taken them seriously anyway.

I have noticed a change in tone in the media with regard to UKIP. Where they once called us "the right" or "fringe", now they realise that public opinion is actually where we are. The politicians have realised this and moved the terms of the debate in our direction so that now we are slap bang in the middle.

In recent weeks we have been called "A force that cannot be ignored", "we are now in the era of 4 party politics". And things like "UKIP are gaining support with their principled opposition to...". This is in stark contrast to earlier in the year.

Harry, You could well be right. I hope so!

I just dont want people to have unreal wild expectations from NF.

He has done well and been very busy and we are glad of it!

Agreed! Once the media do start to swing our way and with Nigel giving such polished media performances, I think it will be "Up, Up and away" for UKIP!

One has to admire tremendously Nigel's ability to cover the same sort of thing over and over again on endless different occasions and interviews and still sound fresh and interested in what he is saying. Don't know anyone who could do that better.

Default Very good performance in TalkSport interview from Mr. Farage

I bet the biased europhile BBC wouldn't give anyone from UKIP three hours on air. They might, though, for someone who was pro-EU.

There's no doubt Mr. Nigel Farage MEP did very well in the interview on TalkSport.

Career politicians can probably manage a few minutes of 'friendly' questions on television/radio - but once the interviewer started firing off more difficult questions they'd be out of the studio pretty quickly claiming they had another appointment elsewhere   .

Biscuitmann,

I missed the broadcast, but if it as good as they say here I hope people other than us converted listened in, even if for a short while.

I also find arguing with arch EUrophiles does dishearten them. They no longer want to bring the subject up with an air of authority on it. If it is brought up, the non commited see there is an alternative to membership of this project.
