Default Wither Lechlade.....

For the sake of posting something current in this section - heres an answer given in the UKIP section:-

or the 'old' Lechlade group planning to launch a new party and deliberately target UKIP or Veritas members?

Let me know please, I'd be very interested.

At every meeting held by the 'old' Lechlade Group we always stressed that we were against a rift, we would support Roger to the end of his term and that the party MUST unite under the new leader, whoever they were.

We started the 'roadshows' with the intention of convincing members that we needed to be multi-policy. Our first presentations were designed to argue the case for the same. However, we found that everywhere we went the members were already screaming for the same.

I say everywhere - that is apart from the one we did at Lexdrum House in Newton Abbott - the audience were split down there because of their support for Trevor Coleman's poster campaign on the single issue.

(We also contributed to the Berkshire County Forum, attended by Nigel. The Chairman of the forum had set an agenda, again to convince the members that we should be multi-policy.

The first thing he did at the start of the meeting was ask for a show of hands as to who was in favour of being a full blown political party - this was to an audience of mainly old crustys - he was expecting to have a hard struggle to convince them and intended to take another show of hands at the end to see how many we had won over.

To his amazement, the first poll gave 100% in favour of multi policies).

As a group we are pleased that Nigel has publicly declared that UKIP is to be multi-policy. The LG thus achievd its primary aim. As long as Nigel keeps UKIP to that path we will support him.

If it transpires that he is taking the pee and is just paying lip service to the members then other tactics will have to be employed.

The secondary purpose of the Lechade Group was to encourage those who attende dthe meetings to set up their own discussion groups - the idea being that two or more branches could hold forums to discuss ideas, the best could be carried forward to county or regional meetings and the best of those be passed on to the party chairman via the party secretary.

Unfortunately there just are'nt enough activists to take the idea up.

I would still like to see this happen - to give the grass routes a vox populis.

The LG was/is more a spiritual rather than physical concept. There was no formal membership - all meetings were open to all party members and invitees who could be vouched for.

Our meetings were attended by many party luminaries: Roger Knapman, Nigel Farage, Gerard Batten, Derek Clarke, Geoffrey Kingscott, Malcom Wood, Steve Harris, Steve Allinson, Lawrence Webb and many branch chairmen.

Whether we will take to the road again is open to discussion, we've had invites and I'd like to do a few but at the moment, as I said it is a watching brief for now.

Your comments regarding Lexdrum House voting are absolute nonesense!
In any case most of those present were die-hard Lechlade anyway. They went out of there way to disagree with everything that their croney element had already discussed prior to the meeting.
I will go so far as to say that some Lechlade members were particularly unsociable and down right rude on occasions. No names! No pack drill!
Now let us get on with being just plain U.K.I.P. and get on with the job in hand, instead of all this whinge! whinge!
I thought this boyscout group had disbanded!

Why don't you continue going through life as plain Dave Grylls and permit others to support what and who they wish?

Any problem you may have with LG Members or the LG itself can of course be openly debated,so,put your case and let us ALL see what you have against the LG.

Are you going to state CLEARLY what your problem is regards The Lechlade Group and it's Members?

With regard to what was the Lexdrum House meeting, you got extremely personal and more than a little hysterical with your comments, care to say why, in some detail, this meeting made you so angry and rude in your post?

Much more than a little personal I think DG,your words earlier on tonight you said.......absolute nonsense....die hard Lechlade....croney element....just plain UKIP....this boyscout group....

The Lechladers have done nothing to you, have they?

Perhaps you try too hard to ingratiate yourself with the Party,I wouldn't bother if I was you, unprofessional small minds are always overlooked in Politics.

But,you already knew that,didn't you?

Request that you try hard to remove the monkey from your back with regard to The Lechlade Group and come and join us all.

Good luck to you.

I spoke as I found it to be is that not permitted.

I will make this my last on this matter as I see you have difficulty in controlling your aggression.

Do you not think it would be much better if the L.G spent more time raising funds instead of temperatures!

As this is to be my last word, could I say I found AnthonY Butcher to be a very Knowledgable and pleasant person, whom I thought could have done much good within the N.E.C. (CREEP! NEVER THE LESS TRUE!)

I SHALL NEVER GRACE THE LECHLADE GROUP AGAIN!
NO! YOU HAVE NOT HURT MY FEELINGS.
HONI SOIT QUI MALY PENSE!
