Thank you.

I really went in with plenty of ideas (and a very positive attitude) which I put forward over the first few months. It quickly became obvious that after an initial token three proposals, the rest never even made it on to the agenda of the meetings. There was absolutely no interest in improving the party, even at a common sense level.

In other words, the ideas that I presented were never even discussed in the meetings and when I tried to discuss them by email I was continually told to stop doing so.

As I said in my resignation letter, my short period on the NEC was a total waste of my time unfortunately. It was incredibly frustrating because hard working people such as yourself are putting in many hours, but the party is not maximising its resources at all.

I SHALL NEVER GRACE THE LECHLADE GROUP AGAIN!
NO! YOU HAVE NOT HURT MY FEELINGS.
HONI SOIT QUI MALY PENSE!
As one of the Lechlade group that traveled all the way from Birmingham(over 6 hours there and back)
I am truly saddened that you could take this attitude, i can guarantee nobody was rude intensionally.
It was a bit of a mixed meeting because of Trevor colmans presentation the two should never have been mixed.

I'm sorry you think that we would spend our time and money being arrogant , are only aim was to give activists a voice and to help the party move in the right direction.

I am Stunned by your post Dave totally stunned.

Intentionally or otherwise, co-ordinated or not, it seems that things equating to mind games take place.

The target today the Lechlade Luvvies and the achievements of the group!

We must now accept that we are just "ill mannered" "whingers"

The tool of the BBC, socialist revisionists, and fellow travellers = Britains are imperialists and or ignorant cultureless thugs, we should be ashamed of ourselves and our history. the same attitude prevails amongst most teachers and others.

(I'm sure that you will all allow me a little licence here) ******** to that!
And ******** to the whole crock that Lechlade are nit pickers, negative or destructive.

Even if it all ends in tears, for those months it was bright and sweet, it lifted and enthused. Its goals were honest and noble. Its members were and are the very best. I have said before and will repeat I owe them a lot!

Thanks Lads and Lasses, I am yours to the Bitter end as the song goes, even though the bitter end's a million miles away!

No surrender! (heard that somewhere before) But by any standard I mean it.

This thread has been triggered off by Biscuitman quoting me on the Peter Baker trial thread and, no offence Biscuitman but you left out a sentence of the quote which to me justifies why I raised the fight back issue. Please allow me to explain, I wrote:-

Quote:
When are the victims of the leadership's disgraceful behaviour going to re-group & fight back?
Are any of the victims or the 'old' Lechlade group planning to launch a new party and deliberately target UKIP or Veritas members?
Let me know please, I'd be very interested.
I joined this forum 2 years ago and quickly became oriented to the Lechlade Group way of thinking about how UKIP should progress. I did fully intend to come to an LG meeting a year ago but a last minute hitch prevented me.

I still maintain that leaving Europe can only be done via a Westminster vote and thus can only be done by a majority of MPs in the ruling party. Even if there is a majority of MPs in the house, you cannot guarantee a co-ordinated vote for withdrawal. What’s all this to do with Lechlade? Well, I fondly believed, and still do, that UKIP could become a broad church party i.e. have a spectrum of policies to attract voters from all parties and I saw LG as a vehicle to invigorate the old UKIP leadership. Somebody else once put it succinctly (sorry I can’t remember who to give credit to), that if NF only targets disaffected Tories, UKIP will stay a disaffected Tory pressure group

Throughout the leadership campaign it became obvious to me that NF particularly wanted no truck with any potential opposition to his vision. Despite:-

Quote:
Our meetings were attended by many party luminaries: Roger Knapman, Nigel Farage, Gerard Batten, Derek Clarke, Geoffrey Kingscott, Malcom Wood, Steve Harris, Steve Allinson, Lawrence Webb and many branch chairmen.
I believe I have seen many posts herein quoting NF derogatory comments about the LG (as usual I can’t find them when I want to quote them)

I admit to being pretty politically naïve – but it seemed obvious to me that NF would purge his enemies when he won. However, they all seemed to have helped him by lying down & being trampled underfoot. I accept that I didn’t know what it was really like on the NEC and the top of UKIP and with hindsight the resignations are understandable.

As an avid forum watcher, I was dumbfounded in the weeks after the election that nobody seemed to suggest a fight back. Following the Peter Baker farce I felt I had to say something even though I’m a million miles from being your typical backroom agitator.

I do take heart from Biscuitman’s last sentence though.

Quote:
Whether we will take to the road again is open to discussion, we've had invites and I'd like to do a few but at the moment, as I said it is a watching brief for now.

I missed a lot of the first part of Lexdrum, did it kick off or something then?

Certainly I didn't see any other funny business going on when I got there.

I was at the Lexdrum House meeting, and I must say I thought it was a good meeting. Lechlade was a good organisation with sound ideas to move UKIP forward. It is a pity Nigel doesn't recognise this.

The disagreement over Trevor Colman's poster campaign was a democratically conducted vote. I voted for it, but I notice that the original posters that were presented at Lexdrum have been changed!!!!

The NEC and Nigel were against it, but it is interesting that since the leadership election, it is now being rolled out nationwide from January.

I have heard that the response from the public has been good, and a number of new members recruited.
