Well folks: tomorrow I shall stand-down as Party Secretary, (lots of HOORAY's in the background ...) and hand-over the job to a more conventional, quiet, thoughtful Party Secretary, who, if he writes anything here ever: I will expect to find Sponplague's pigs flying all around the place .... real ones I mean ...

I started writing on this forum with a specific intention, that is, to attempt in some limited fashion to reverse the complaints which were constantly on this forum that NOBODY in the UKIP hierarchy ever said anything about what was going on in the NEC or at Leadership level; and it was obvious from the completely erroneous ideas floating around, generated from rumour and extrapolated to ridiculous heights needed some correction to say the least.

Now of course that cannot be done easily for confidentiality reasons, but I have tried to give better explanation of the truth for some of the more outrageous rumours and outlandish ideas which were flourishing like weeds here.

I tried, like Lord Reith's dictum for the BBC, (now completely ignored by the BBC) to inform, educate and entertain ......
Sometimes I went over the top a bit (like recently) ... but that's my style: WYSIWYG - what you see is what you get; at least you can be assured I have never lied to you or tried to bamboozle you , which is the stock-in-trade of quite a few on this forum and is generally thought of as "normal" for politicians these days. Well it ain't normal for me.

So, I intend to fade quitely into the backgroung again now where I came from. I do not expect to post here anymore unless specifically asked on a specific item (by e-mail). I need a rest from it as internet communication takes a lot of time and effort and frankly I've had enough of it and do not want to spend the time anymore as I have lots of other things to do. I will look every now and then for a laugh. I bet you continue to savage each other like bears in a bear garden fighting over the buns ..... have fun!

Douglas i know you came in for a lot of stick on this forum and i admired you tenacity at times, but the one thing you did do that the others don't you stood up to be accountable for that i admire you.

I believe politics is not personal and you had your way of expressing it and i had mine, personally i think you should continue to post if for no other reason it starts a good debate
