I emailed UKIP about a year ago about how important a good website is. And how its where people first look these days for information.
I got a response saying "we are about to review and change the website format". WHY HASNT IT BEEN DONE? A website is possibly the most important thing a small party needs in order to expand. Each day ticks by, people here about UKIP, search for the website and then they find a hideous web page, with no creativity or imagination in the format just dullness after dullness..... Instantely they are switched off. No wonder membership is down Horrible fonts, horrible layout, horribly boring, no have your say, no videos, no pictures, awful colour scheme. Its quite possibly the worse political party website on the internet. For God's sake it needs sorting out! Then I, like so many others will join the party and commit ourselves. But we wont do till that website is sorted! |

The basic issue is that Doug Denny started an investigation/ report, that David Campbell-Bannerman then took over when he became chairman.
Some adjustments were made during the reporting phase, but nothing has happened since. I've stopped asking for upadtes, but am hoping it will be part of the new media chap's remit... |

He is aware of the criticisms of the website and tries hard to keep the quality high but is probably restricted with constraints of costs and his own limited time. If you have specific ideas contact him: stuartgulleford@ukip.org I wrote a report for the NEC regarding the website which recommended various points to give improvements. I do not think it a high priority yet though for many reasons. I know David Campbell-Bannerman is keen to get the communications at all levels in the party improved, and part of that is a suggestion of re-structuring of the communicationss elements of the party with a new 'directorate' post which I think is now being taken up with Nigel's new team. It is I know frustrating that these things take a long time, but we are working on a shoestring compared to the major parties who have many full-paid workers to do just their IT requirements. I too am hoping things will improve now Nigel has a new team. Douglas |

Maybe irritating, but he's been busy uploading shiny conference pics to his precious it seems ... (the reference is hidden in a small "gallery" link on the left)
