In contrast to Bozo at the end, who was pathetic. We should try and get him on T.V. more often.

The text (transcript) of the interview is now available in another thread I've just posted in this section of the forum.
As someone mentioned earlier, Barroso and Hain were given the last word on the programme to try to 'neutralise' anything Nigel Farage MEP had said at the start of the broadcast. I'm sure Barroso and Hain had agreed with each other before the programme on what to say at the end - and to back each up when each of them spoke. Barroso went on about the £40 million "given" by the EU to Northern Ireland - why didn't the BBC interviewer press him on that by telling that the UK gets back only a third of what it puts in. The awful Hain (with what the Sun newspaper call his 'permatan') is just a hypocrite - he wrote a book in 1995 warning of the dangers of the euro and EU but changed his tune as sooon as his new pro-EU boss Blair gave him a cushy job. At the end of the programme, Sarah Sands was there, praising economic migration into the UK. Proof that the owners of the Telegraph did the right thing in (allegedly) kicking her out and firing her as editor of the Sunday Telegraph. I believe the Sunday Telegraph is doing much better without her and her bizarre 'make-over' of the 'paper. |

Early interview with Nigel was excellent. Disappointing, though, that he wasn't given more time as expected apparently.
Of course the BBC gave loads of time to the revolting self-absorbed Blunkett to get more publicity. Disgustingly unbalanced at the end of the show with Hain, Sands and Barroso all batting like mad for the EU. Huw Edwards to his credit made some questioning sounds, but overall this conclusion without Nigel there was totally one-sided and the BBC should be rocketed for it. |

Come to think of it, to have had the Nigel interview early on, and then have the conclusion at the end about immigration and expansion of the EU conducted as though Nigel hadn't been on, and no UKIP type view could possibly exist, was, to put it ultra mildly, discourteous in the extreme.
I think UKIP should demand a right of reply!?!? |

But I expect the reason Nigel Farage MEP was not there at the end was a possible reluctance on his part not to want to share the sofa with Barroso. He may even have asked to be interviewed at the start of the programme so that he didn't cross paths in the BBC building with Barroso. It would not have looked good from the point of view of Nigel Farage to be seen sitting on the sofa exchanging small talk with a creep like Barroso. I should think that by the time the Barroso interview ended, Nigel Farage was already back in the London traffic. Nevertheless, I would like to see UKIP take this up and criticise the pro-EU ending to the programme. Since europhile Hain was there as well, the programme makers should not have let the EU issue be raised in the closing moments. I always thought the last part of that programme was all about small talk and pleasantries - not an opportunity for Barroso to 'push product' . |
