Default Eurosceptic Campaign is Back

Brendan Carlin writes in the Telegraph today ( on- line version )that Paul Sykes, our friend and mentor until Kilroy Silk blew it for us,is set to launch a 10 million campaign next week in the papers and on the internet to tell the truth about the EU.

Every household will get a leaflet outlining our real relationship with the EU .The leaflet will put forward 7 key areas where we want our sovereignty back .

This is splendid news .
Although not an outright declaration that we would be "better off out "it will serve to inform the masses of the attacks on our country`s govt and show the professional politicians up for what they are -traitors almost to a man .Importantly it will demand action ,the sort of action that no govt can undertake without pulling the whole EU project down around their ears.

Well done Mr Sykes ,for a while I thought you had forgotten the cause ,now I see that you were just biding your time.Frankly I don`t care that UKIP is not getting this money ,all that matters is that the campaign is effective and if it is cross party /non political then it is likely to be more effective .

Sorry if that upsets some people but I have been harping on for some time now that we need a non -political campaign of some magnitude( see my article in last issue of These Tides ) and now here it is !

Richard North on the EuReferendum blog takes a rather different view of Mr Syke's initiative:

Quote:
...Dubbed the "Speak Out" campaign, the declared aim is to "harness mass support for a referendum on repatriation of seven powers now transferred to Europe". Sykes, however, is insisting that this is not about withdrawing from the EU. He says: "This is an outbreak of the truth. Every man, woman and child will get to know what our relationship with the EU is."

We should be highly delighted at this development, but for the fact that we have seen it all before. Sykes has a habit of calling in people for discussions about how to develop Eurosceptic campaigns, ignoring their advice and then going ahead with what he first thought of – usually involving a mega-spend on ineffectual newspaper ads.

As for leading anything, Sykes is on his own. There is no mass campaign beyond the dining rooms of the ad agencies that he will be employing and his reach will last for as long as he stumps up cash which – from past experience – will not be for very long, before he loses interest.

It is easy to poke fun at Sykes` ideas but he is at least doing something.

Richard North works for the Tories who in the main are doing very little to retrieve GB from the claws of the EU ,indeed most of them( under orders from DC) are going to do ****** all !

It is trite to point out that there is no vast campaign BEHIND all of this ,how can there be yet?
The Great British Public has to be woken up first before it is ready to accept any sort of proper campaign .

Knowledge is power ,they haven`t got the knowledge yet.

Good on Sykes. It may not work, but we have to be prepared to back a bit of enthusiasm supported by funding and give things a go.

We should retain a belief that given a bit of effort and luck the semi-comatose population can be woken up at some time.

If we don't believe that why are we bothering to follow this forum? Better to just bow down to the new elite.

Default Eurosceptic Campaign is back

So Paul Sykes is launching a new Referendum Campaign. What notice does the EU take of Referendums ? NONE.
Because of the 'Acquis Communautaire', while the UK is a member of the EU, no powers surrendered to the EU may be re-patriated, so whatever the result of a referendum by the British people, Parliament cannot retrieve these areas already surrendered by successive Westminster governments.
The only way to solve the UK's problem, is by working within our present Constitution, which according to the Bill of Rights element of that Constitution, means that as 'No government may bind its successsor',, then our Westminster government simply repeals all the Acts of Parliament that enshrine the various EU Treatys within British Law, so that we are no longer subservient to EU Law. Then, once more an Independent Country, we can do anything that suits our own people, including trading with whoever we choose.
Anyone who wishes to succeed, needs to work within the prevailing rules. If you go for Sykes referendum idea you will be wasting valuable time.
UKIP is the only choice, because it is through the power of the electorate as expressed by their votes that the battle may be won. Our Westminster Parliament is the most powerful democratic institution in the World, that is where the Salvation of the British people lies.
Martin Harvey. UKIP Broxbourne & Harlow.

Surely the idea is that a referendum vote would be the formal instruction to the British government to do just as you say - repeal existing treaties.
