[quote="Lewkip There have been some very good postings but it has been spoiled by a rabid, at times hysterical, dislike of all things Nigel, infiltration from the BNP and, tellingly, its leadership vote failed to mirror the breakdown of people who voted last month. That was perhaps the biggest knock against its credibility: It does not reflect the total UKIP reality.

Very true!

Yes, it means that the people here are largely much better informed of the reality of UKIP than the majority of members.

Ah! Anthony! The founder of this site! That was an unfortunate slap in the face of those not as techie as you and I. There are many stalwarts who are in a position to be informed in other ways and guess what? They outnumbered your fellow naysayers. So who had the last laugh? Who is still in? Who is out?

I can see why you would take some hurt from my statement but as a Nigel supporter I too have been made aware of, let's say, one view of UKIP reality courtesy of your forum. The hurt all round is clear to see but was it one borne of a campaign to rid the party of troublesome priests or that of failed expectations of said priests?

An earlier poster said you cannot change anything by resigning. Pity you had to take that option yourself but let's not drag up the last year again. You will no doubt play an interesting role here going forward!

Which proves that no forum is 100% secure. Even the party conference.

However I wince when I see some of the comments posted. We should all think for a minute before we press send. but we should bear in mind as well that even a members only forum is still not secure. Liblabcon can still join the party and gain access to our forum.
BTW whilst leaving the conference we were handed envelopes by suited gents who we assumed were libs. They were BNP !
The BNP are notorious for that. But with registered members, at least you can verify the real identity of Liblabcon via their credit card or mailing address. Call me harsh but I would even review the disciplinary code for sanctions for posts that served no purpose. It won't stop moles but then I would not be posting the actual recipes to finger licking chicken or a certain sugar-flavoured drink online either!

Party conference?

Heck! It was revealed months ago that Tony Blair was interviewed on Blue Peter! Politics and secrets make bad bedfellows!

The more people are involved, the more likely there will be infiltration.

If I was using an official private forum, I would be VERY careful about what I said. It will leak like hell and whatever you do say will get GLW'd to make you look 10 times worse.

Well I never post anything, even in an email, much less a forum entry that I would hate to have on general circulation.

Disagree with this though, who decides what is useful or not, and a proper forum should be an online community with similar views, an online pub without the p***heads. we should be able to say hello and have a chat about most things. we do not need a strictly 'Party business only' forum

I agree, and I would not want automatons. But even pubs bar non-p***heads who are a nuisance.

I would insist on relevant posts being made but if there were persistent flouters that spoil it for everyone else then why should everyone put up with it? It wouldn't have to be an outright ban, at least not to start with. A cooling off period for a month or so where no posts could be entered would be quite sobering. But if that fails then why not review overall party membership?
