I genuinely want to know what you think I have lied to you about. If I have misled you in some way, then I want to be able to apologise or explain. Given that we have never met, and I don't think that we have ever spoken, exchanged emails or even sent a PM to each other in the last 12 months (I might be wrong), I am at a loss as to what I could have lied to you about. |

I'm gonna take a wild speculative guess as to what Intbel is referring to in his posts. The following is not taken from any particular post here or anywhere else and is just my simple conjecture based on my impression of the multitude of posts prior to the leadership election.
1. Will you remain on the NEC if Farage wins? Yes 2. Will you remain a member of UKIP if Farage wins? Yes If I'm wrong about either point I'm sure somebody will point that out and I apologise in advance for that and will apologise again next time I log in here. |

This forum used to be rather fun. I remember (was it only 18 months ago?) idealistic people called Anthony Butcher, Intbel, Biscuitman and UKIPMan, Bellatrix, C-steam and MKPDavies who used to swap merry banter and profound remarks in between plotting the salvation of the world. Ah me, them were the days. Now UKIPMan seems to have vanished, as does our ever-acute FibDem nemesis Scotgirl. Bellatrix (she of the thousand shoes) is apparently spitting poison on some other website, Anthony Butcher is disillusioned and grumpy, Intbel is having a pop at him for reasons nobody understands (but which are plainly deeply felt - I remember seeing a post from him months ago about Tony having 'lied' to him). Only Matt seems basically his old self, even if he is now semi-detatched from UKIP. And maybe C-steam, too. Biscuitman still lightens the spirits, but appears far too rarely these days. We've picked up some good new people too, but the skies have darkenned.
Is this the famous ability of the internet to bring people together? Or have I been watching the Curse of UKIP in action? A journalist five years ago wrote of the "skein of vituperation and hatred that characterises Ukip". Why? Why can't we be an easygoing, friendly party like the Greens? It isn't that UKIP attracts irritable old gits - the people here are diamond geezers and geezeresses. Leaving aside the specific reasons if possible (he said she said they said he did that was unforgiveable) why is there so much the feuding? Tis a heck of a shame. |

UKIP attracts strong independent characters. It will always stuggle to retain them.
Nigel was pretty spot on with his hearding cats comment. I guess people just have to realise the dog is more dangerous than the other cats.

Good post Tom.
Unfortunately because of serious health problems - its a case of whether the NHS runs out of dosh before I run out of life - I have togive more time to stashing it away for the family. BUT, I think that when the dust settles over the next couple of weeks or so UKIP or another entity will emerge brighter and stronger than ever to keep the eusceptic flame burning.

We are in a state of flux at the moment.
The Tories are failing under Cameron, which will lead to mayhem for a while. We just need to be ready to unite at the right time. That includes old Labour and real Liberal in the Lib Dems too.
