Simon Muir's last posting states the matter very well. Over the years many of us have tried to get some sense into the Party management and been ignored.

Unless Nigel has miraculously seen the light it should be easy for him as leader because it is downhill all the way.

Checking Google News this morning for UKIP-related stories, I see that the BNP are already doing their best to stir media interest in Ski's resignation. They quote extensively from his resignation letter. They say:

"His lengthy letter of resignation has been forwarded to our correspondent from a senior BNP-sympathetic UKIP official."

The usual self-serving Nazi lies. The truth is almost certainly that they lifted the letter from this thread. I wish people wouldn't make it so easy for them.

Agree with that.

Obviously they would see the letter from this forum, but no doubt they are also on GLW's emailing list and get all his ranting messages.

If you missed the programme you can watch it again here.

I think Peter Hitchens is absolutely spot on in what he says. I am a great fan. He used to be jeered when he spoke on Any Questions, not any more. All we need is a charismatic leader who will take up the theme, as Peter doesn't seem to want to be leader, and announce it to the world.

Hey don't inlcude me in the sizeable group. I have all but given up on UKIP. I'm only a member because I have it until 2010. I stepped down from the Woking commitee and will be working on other things other than UKIP now. I don't really believe in the way it will be run, but I still believe in it's core values. In the absence of anything better to go to, I will freelance on projects I think are useful in

a) Destroying the old parties.
b) Help us get out of the EU
c) NO2ID
d) Anti War
e) other things that take my interest
Fair enough. Please accept my apologies.

Nigel won and that's the end of it though.
I hope not. In GLW's famous phrase, UKIP is (still) our lifeboat really. Nobody else has the public awareness, nor potentially the resources. I take on board your point about a Tory split. If it happens, great, but true Tories are literally a dying group.

I was accused of having associations with the BNP – even when these scoundrels knew that my grandfather was murdered by the Nazis in a concentration camp and my Great Grandfather was discovered hanged by them from a lamp post near his home by my 14 year old Father. Further I am angry that UKIP’s leadership were happy to collude in this base and obscene slur, particularly in the light of the fact that I have been ‘courting’ a young woman from St Lucia for the last 2 years, she herself has been victimised by racial abuse.
This doesn't surprise me at all! There seem to be some very good people in UKIP and some very nasty people. The nasty ones are those that have brought their previous New Britain tendencies with them.

Obviously the right wing of the Tories is champing at the bit right now BUT I believe they lack the courage to make a move in case they fail .
They forget that often "fortune favours the brave ".

They are gratified that UKIP under Nigel F will not stand against their BOO
candidates and thus take the heat off them at an election .I entirely agree with NF`s stance on this ,it is stupid to stab fellow travellors in the back be they Lib Lab or Con .

Once the Tories are in power ( they hope ) I presume that they will actively seek to wrest power from the Cameroons .

Only problem with this plan is that Cameron and co will be well established and in power .

These are interesting times and I hoped that if we sorted out the festering problems over our internal /administrative /funding issues we could move ahead with a unified party which could play its part in all of this whatever it might be .

Rest assured that the right wing Tories are delighted that NF won as he is a known quantity ,others were not .

If he hopes to fulfil his potential as a catalyst for change he must now meet the demands of the right thinking members of UKIP and put our admin and funding etc on a transparent footing and also move to stop any unwarranted attacks on perfectly good people who have served the party well. As leader he should set up proper systems and then leave others to run them .

If he does that he will start to lead a unified party ,if not we have all worked very hard over the years for nothing .

You're having a laugh surely?

I'm pleased you're still with us Petrina, after all the slagging off you've had to put up with from certain parties, and being Richards nominated deputy I feared, when I saw your name under this posting, that you were going to fall on your sword as well.

I'm glad to note that you aren't that principled and intend to continue the fight from within.
