I don't dismiss RS's grievances out of hand, and I don't know whether the timing is just accidental, but I agree with Michael that the manner of the resignation letter is indeed revealing.

The letter says:

Quote:
Knowing this, I was more than surprised that he allowed his cronies, supporters and certain staff to openly and reprehensibly lie and rubbish a loyal UKIP member, with elected duties, who devoted the last 2 years of his life, full time, unpaid, to help UKIP progress.
Two years full time? Really? What about the businesses referred to in the RS website?

OK, but presumably it does mean 9 to 5, five days a week.

Doing what exactly?

I must say it does seem rather odd that he refers to this particular accusation as "a base and obscene slur".... .
I found, before the ex took to her heels, that it isn't always sensible to listen to what the wife says.

Surely Niall (and whoever the anonymous csteam is) the pompous one is he that has chosen to resign in the manner of the last Chairman seeking to damage both party and leader just prior to Conference. With perfect and predictable synchronisation this is followed by the release from GLW of another's resignation and no doubt we'll get a couple more soon.
Did Richard write a similar letter when he stepped down as Tory general election candidate for Swansea East in 1997 .I post a reply he gave to a question from me below------it appears he was on the high ground then too.

DEJA VU?

"
You asked: it is alleged that you withdrew as Tory candidate for Swansea East in 1992.Is this true ;if so why?
2. Your question is in fact not quite accurate. It was in 1997 that I withdrew as a Tory candidate for Swansea East. There were 2 reasons for this, but only one was made public, in order not to damage the Party. The official reason was that I was offered a commercial assignment in Croydon which meant I could not dedicate the time necessary to fight a full time campaign. The second and prime reason was that the Tory Party had become embroiled in sleaze and the behaviour of a number of party members, both nationally and locally had much to be desired. I therefore withdrew placing my sense of morality and virtue above that of ‘personal career advancement’."

Good. At the very least it shows a person consistent with his principles.
