Default The words of a truly GREAT MAN

A Message From Nigel Farage MEP

19-09-2006

My thanks to all those who voted for me in the recent, lengthy leadership campaign. I was pleased to secure a large proportion of the vote, but recognise that there were elements of the other manifestos that attracted considerable support from members. The handover at Conway Hall in London was smooth and the election procedure was impeccable, a credit to our returning officer, Geoffrey Kingscott and all involved in the election.

I am sure that Roger and Carolyn Knapman are pleased that four long years are over. UKIP's enormous thanks go to both of them. The one disappointment of the day was the timing of our announcement, which coincided with Mr Blair's speech to the TUC conference. This meant that the print journalists were in Brighton and not in London and our newspaper coverage of the event was not what we would have hoped for. However, I was very busy with the broadcast media and conducted many interviews on the day. We need in future to plan our big events not to clash in this way.

The following day saw a huge number of emails and telephone calls as I sat down to plan my approach. I decided that the best thing to do was to get out campaigning immediately and so went to Bournemouth and shared the platform with Torquil Dick-Erikson and Chris Lees, who were speaking on the proposed loss of our veto on Justice and Home Affairs. It was a well attended meeting, though there was incredulity that so little had been said on the issue. Believe me; we are pushing as hard as we can.

Thursday showed me what I have to take on. I went down to Lexdrum House, our Head Office, to meet the staff and volunteers. The office is an excellent facility and the people are hard working and enthusiastic. A mid-afternoon trip to Plymouth saw two radio and two television interviews: There is no question that we are taken seriously in the South West. The day finished with a meeting outside Budleigh Salterton, once again it was well attended. A long drive home arriving in the small hours left me feeling tired but knowing that the Party is keen to make rapid progress.
UKIP was formed to fight elections and we need to start planning and preparing now. There are many council seats to be fought next May as well as the assembly elections. Do not underestimate how important local elections are. Only by winning seats at the local level can we hope to succeed in first past the post General Elections. I would like all of our branches to urgently bid for candidates for 2007 and start campaigning and they will be helped by policy launches on domestic issues. UKIP will be seen not just as a Party that wants us free from the European Union but one with a vision of how an independent Britain would look.

Thursday showed me what I have to shut down. I went down to Lexdrum House, our soon to be ex-Head Office, to meet the staff and volunteers. The office is an excellent facility which we don't need and even though the people are hard working and enthusiastic, I'm going to tell the NEC on monday that it is going to be closed. So there.

How dare you question the word of the GREAT NIGEL (peace and blessings be upon him) Those that fail to rally to the flag of Nigel (peace and blessings be upon him) must be cast out like the infidel dogs they are. 100% loyalty to Nigel (peace and blessings be upon him) and the cult of the disciple Chad Valley.

Could you elaborate on that please as I don't see that mentioned anywhere else at the moment. Of course I am aware that moving back to London from the brand new Head Office was stated as a policy objective of Nigel's before the election (one of the reasons I did not vote for him) but am not aware that things have moved so ultra fast. Thanks.

the presumptiom is that Nigel wants to CONTROL everything he can so what better than move Head Office to the SE.He may prove us wrong but we shall have to await and see.
If this does happen it will cost money,. the last move from Birmingham cost at least £10,000. I could see NO point in leaving B'ham all this is doing is moving the deck chairs on the Titanic while it continues to go down

Give the guy a chance - he is undisputably the boss now.

It may or may not turn out great, but we are not in great shape anyway.
