Good luck to the Scots, but why should UKIP hang around waiting for the Scots to jilt England?
I spent a fortnight in Scotland recently. The country of my ancestors apparently went communist some time in the last ten years, although I don't recall the revolution reported anywhere.

Everywhere you go in the Highlands, you'll see the dreaded garotte of barbed wire, proclaiming how another handout has been greedily accepted. Many of the projects I saw are economic nonsense, for example ski lifts in areas that don't get snow, badly-built harbours (for foreign trawlers to use), and "regeneration schemes" trying to artificially promote tourisim in places even the Scots don't want to visit.

The answer to the West Lothian question isn't an English parliament and more division. It's UNITY and simplicity. Kill the Welsh ass and the Holyrood horror, and go back to simple, accountable, first-past-the-post Westminster government, and accountable, small local government. It's the ONLY way to keep this country together.

You may be interested to know that the latest bit of fun up there is that the EU intends to break up CalMac, thus trashing the Islands' economy. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4239500.stm. Note that this news is a year old. I've yet to see UKIP make any comment (frankly it's a bit late now!). You couldn't make this up, but there is a story on UKIP.org about CalMac from a month earlier (http://www.ukip.org/ukip_news/gen12.php?t=1&id=1526), grumbling about the EU forcing new ferry orders to be put out to tender.

Talk about losing the plot! The big move (breaking up CalMac) is likely to mean a return to C19 transport services for some parts of the Hebrides. The main parties in Scotland dare not offer any sort of united front against the EU, so it's been left to individual politicians, and even they are reticent about what's really going on. An open goal for UKIP if there ever was one.

Scotland is fertile ground for us (at least the Highlands and Islands are), as there's nothing to counterbalance the sickening cancerous growth of incestuous government, bureaucracy and EU interference up there.

As for an English parliament, it's another case of 'because we EUrorealists can't/won't make ourselves attractive to the electorate we'll bang on about something totally off-the-wall, to assuage our consciences that we're doing something.'

Get real. There's a country out there desperate for the sort of common sense UKIP might tell them. It will be one of history's great tragedies that at a crucial moment the party was turned into an organisation protecting the incomes of its MEPs.

On the latter point I long to be proven wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.

I was going to say the usual, hero, stalwart ,good egg. sort of things.

But suddenly thought NO :!:

I hope that most if not all on this forum would do what Anthony has done over the years, given the wear with all.

And as they say, no one is irreplaceable.

It is for us now, to asses how to replace him and his contribution.

But, Thanks Anthony, for your efforts and colleagueship.

It is all far from over.

I must close, befor the Last Post Sounds :!:

I am afraid that it is already one of history's greatest tragedies and there is not much we can do about it. Scotland may be desperate for the sort of common sense UKIP might tell them, but history also shows that the top of UKIP is sadly lacking in that department.

I would say that many more activists are considering their options at present. You & your comon sense ideas will be sorely missed.
I wish you all the best for the future.
Agreed. Altho I am an unimportant nobody member, I am leaving too, as I just can't abide being in this ineffectual party run by the same old guys as if it is some Disgruntled Tory Boys Club.

Kernow, it is sad to hear when a party loses activists for reasons that appear trivial to some, but are often taken with deep regret and much personal anguish, was there any reason to bid Barry off in such a tactless manner?
