Yes. Very likely.

UKIP and Leader NF have two years and 9 months to pull the rabbit out of the hat; ie, the 2009 Euro Elections.
No breakthrough there - and isn't NF even talking up the possibility of bettering the Tories - and the game will be up for UKIP, I'm afraid.

Bettering the Tories?

The difficulty is bettering '04 - without Kilroy or Dick Morris.

Lucky to hang on to the ten theve got at the moment.

UKIP is the only party to still have its accounts published by the Electoral Commision for year ending 2005 yet.
That will reveal the exact membership figure.

I've only recently joined the party (end of Sept 06)! Never been interested in politics really.

Here's my two pence worth:

In my honest opinion people are sick an tired of pc b*******, they do not want some beurocrat or politicians lying to them and for me I really hate it when parties spend so much time slandering each other etc... what a waste of time! Nobody wants to hear politicians bashing each other even though it may seem like fair game. The time is much better spent educating people on the EU and looking like normal everyday folk who really do care and are deemed different from the usual parties.

How do we do this?

I think it is more simple than we think, cut out all the hard to take in rhetoric and political persuasions, make the literature simple to understand even for those who are in all intents and purposes illiterate, but have references made available and online so that they can be downloaded and proved if need be for those of more academic origin. Use multimedia and create a much better website making use of technology such as skypecasts and videoconferencing to make information more easily accessible.

Be tough on crime, political correctness, immigration/terrorism (THIS IS A BIGGY), look after our old folk, our hospitals/nhs and schools and deal with newer problems such as greenhouse gases/climate change.

Basically people in the uk really are sick and tired of do gooders who ruin the country. These do gooders are the liberal type who say things like, "you can't say that", and, "we must have our rights" etc. Whilst rights are a good thing, responsibilities have been forgotten!

We live in a highly censored society nowadays which is not free, because freedom of speech is nowadays always being used by these do gooders to make normal decent people who are not anti any colour of skin into racists. Diversifying slightly, as a white, single male of good education I personally feel that it is my group that is being victimised. If you go to any council they have groups for women, gay/lesbian and Bi, transexuals, chinese, muslim, sikh, jew, african ethnicity groups and many others BUT there are never any groups for single, white males. This means to me that we are looking after everyone EXCEPT a huge majority of the UK's populous. Even the comedian Billy Connolly joked about this in what of his skits.

So what I am saying is tell the truth, be honest, get Britain back on track even if it means taking a hard line that would not neccessarily look good for the party because some do gooder will call the racist card. Truth is not bigotry or racism. The public that I speak to are not islamaphobic but have lost all sympathy for Muslims due to the attrocities that they have committed or incited. Now there is nothing wrong with being a muslim or belonging to any other organised religion and I cannot condone terrorism in any fashion and the public are not stupid, they consistantly see on the media images of Muslims inciting or committing these acts, they do not see Sikhs, Hindu's, Jews, Bhuddists or Christians doing this. Yes it is possible to say that there is and has been acts committed by these other religions BUT this is now and the public see what is happening now only, at this time.

British people only want people from other ethnicity to accept Britishness, our cultures and our values. That does not mean that you want to deport anyone who is not of Aryan race, what nonsense pc people speak and because everyone is scared to say anything the matters just get worse!

I joined UKIP because there is no other party taking the majority of the values I have just expressed. I could talk much more on other areas such as education, health etc. but basically UKIP are doing the right thing just not neccesarily as well as I would like them to. To be taken seriously adopt things I have said and appeal to all as nothing ever changes, why reinvent the wheel? In education you can write all these great glossy publications and policy documents but people want to know can children leaving primary school conform to the three r's and spelling, this is what I mean by nothing changes, same with crime, same with health, the publics views have not changed as long as I've been alive. Parties Leaders come and go but the publics dominant views on tax, immigration, economy, transport, defence, education, health and crime have not!

Ok sorry this script became longer than I thought but I'm new and this is what I think! If anyone comes on here stating I'm a racist or anything else I will not post here again because I really believe people should be entitled to freedom of speech.

Kind Regards to all.

I thought your posting was very good and I think more British people will agree with you rather than disagree. I'd be happy if UKIP were to adopt some of your ideas.

Doesn't matter. The membership have given him the seal of approval and if you are democratically minded, you have to accept that.

If he doesn't deliver what he promised then you have the right to moan again, but right now, Nigel has been given the thumbs up.

I suspect that most of those who voted for NF are not the activists. They are the members who sit at home and just vote, not the workers who tramp the streets shoving leaflets through letterboxes and canvassing at election times.
