Bulgarian Blair sticks head in sand

With average wages in Bulgaria of £105 per month, we can expect a further influx of carpenters, plumbers and bricklayers from a nation so poor that they can afford to undercut the Poles who arrived after the last round of EU expansion."

Mr Farage was questioning Mr Stanishev at a meeting in Brussels ahead of Bulgarian accession, amid fears over the number of Bulgarians who will arrive in the UK next year.

Mr Farage commented on the meeting, saying: "This man is so desperate for Bulgaria to benefit from EU (British) money that he is prepared to ignore the truth about immigration - rather like the British Government."

The Bulgarian Premier tried to calm fears that upon accession, hoards of migrants, who are already queuing at the British Embassy, will not come to the country.

I am not sure that we should be insulting the people of Islington and Notting Hill by telling them that they don't have 'proper' jobs.

I think NF means a 'proper' job as in MEP.

I read it very much tounge in cheek that accountants, lawyers or journalists are not propper jobs, but that carpenters, plumbers etc are.

In other words he is having a dig at the metropolitan elite that some like to dig at, as they benefit from cheap plumbers etc, without having to fret over their own jobs like the others do.

Fair enough in my opinion.

On Derek Clarkes site - and e-mailed around by Don ransome, RO, is a press release. Part of the press release states:-

I am sure that it wasn't meant seriously but, given UKIP's somewhat precarious public perception, I don't think that we can really afford to risk insulting potential voters.

It isn't a big deal - I was just commenting that I thought it was unnecessary

I suppose Clarke needs all the help he can get with press releases, including copying Nigels.

After all, Clarkes record on asking written questions in the EU parliament is very poor - NO written questions during his career as an MEP. Neither has Bloom.

Whittaker has asked one. breaking his duck, though barely, as has Graham Booth and Roger Knapman.

Nattrass has asked 4

six for Titford.

Tom Wise asked 10

Batten asked 13.

Farage asked 92 (well done - best of the UKIP bunch)

That's 128 TOTAL for all UKIP MEP's since 2004.

For comparison, ex UKIP Mote asked 134.

Even RKS asked 246!

Go on - someone try and defend that!
