Tory proposals on targets for general wellbeing

Quote:
Following the launch today (4.9.06) of the Conservative’s ‘Wellbeing of the Nation’ interim policy proposals, UKIP Leader Roger Knapman MEP said he looked forward to their proposals on measuring ‘general wellbeing’, which has replaced 'economic prosperity’ as Blue Labour’s main policy aim.
Commenting on the report, Mr Knapman said: "I have rarely seen so many words devoted to saying nothing whatsoever.
"It is 31 pages of largely unintelligible management-speak, held together with fashionable buzz-words. The Conservatives acknowledge that only economic growth will pay for larger public services. However, they have committed themselves to larger public services first, followed by tax-cuts, when they can afford them. I can only imagine that they hope to discover which comes first, the chicken or the egg, before they bankrupt the nation.”
