Part of the reason may that too many Labourites are working on news desks and in editorial offices.
I suspect the BBC doesn't employ EU sceptic newsreaders, probably part of their contract!

The expectation that BBC newsreaders will display Eurosceptic views challenges Cameron's view that for the majority our membership of the EU is simply a fact - no longer an issue. If this is the case, we should not be surprised if newsreaders follow this line, the BBC will, and generally should, follow the mainstream view.

Do we have any recent hard evidence that Cameron is wrong?

I am with you M3. The BBC is actually doing UKIP a massive favour by telling it how it is perceived by the wider electorate. If UKIP did any market research (as we suggested in 2001) it would learn that the BBC is correct. The BBC is saving the party thousands of pounds on consultants fees. All UKIP has to do is listen and change. Are they capable of listening and changing - or only of repeating the endless complaints which re-inforce and re-confirm the public perception?

Absolutely LB.

Righteous indignation is a poor way to win converts!

What UKIP has to do is target seats. That's what a much smaller party than UKIP - the Greens - did in the Pavilion (Brighton) constituency in May of last year. They almost came second in the constituency and had the sitting Labour MP very worried.

Dr. Paisley's DUP in Northern Ireland started off as a small party (like UKIP0 and - through targetting - now has half the seats in Northern Ireland (UKIP, which spreads itself too thinly, has no seats in the Commons on three times the votes secured by the DUP at the last General Election).

Yes, that's a good point. Richard Littlejohn, the eurosceptic columnist (Daily Mail) has said the same. That the BBC is pro-left and pro-EU is absolutely indisputable. Blair's spat with the BBC over its Iraq reporting was like a row within the family.

The sooner the BBC has to stand on its own two feet and not scrounge off 17 million people forced to pay it money, the better.

It's the people we don't see on screen, in the BBC newsrooms, that are mostly to blame.

I don't think these two approaches are mutually exclusive. I would suggest that both be employed.
