Very good - invaluable research for the new leader.

Don't like the fact that I have most in common with Daily Star readers on one axis.

It was too boring.

I am a political animal, but if I am put off by a dull thing that tells me it is 'page 1 of 38', imagine what that will do for Joe Public.

Stick in another 75 pages about the Bilderbergers, and 120 pages of criticism of EU legislation that was superceded 2 years ago, and you have a real UKIP policy document there!

But hey, who listens to me? I don't suck the bosses dick!

Boring maybe but the research demonstrates that politics is no longer a left/right issue.

Last week there was an article in the Telegraph which showed that none of the existing parties appealed to 40% of the population. If UKIP had policies to appeal to these, we could win the next election without taking a single vote from the other parties!

I'm apparently about the same as 65.9% of UKIP supporters so I'm happy with that. 61.6% of BNP supporters are in the 'significantly to your right' category to me. Perhaps Mr Griffin should take the test & give up on trying to convert UKIP backers. 27.0% of UKIP backers are significantly to my right but 37.5% of Conservatives are significantly to my right according to the survey.

As a London resident it says 67% are to my left, 25% about the same and only 8% to my right so if UKIP has a mayoral candidate next time please don't have any great expectations.

The fact this thing tells me I am slightly pro-war, is enough for me to discount it for the BS that it is.

Free markets = pro=war indeed. What a load of drivel.

...I'm not so sure.

My results were:

Quote:
Crime and punishment, internationalism
Your position on this axis is 1.3
You are likely to be slightly punitive and isolationist.

Economics, etc
Your position on this axis is 1.9
You are likely to be fairly free-market and pro-war.
which, actually, seems about right.

On the first assessment, 65% of UKIP supporters share my views, which has to be right although this was somewhat spoilt when the results recommended that I should vote Conservative!

Oh well.

Indeed. How they make that kind of connection is beyond me.

I had the same! It told me I was slightly pro-war even though I had explicitly answered that I was strongly against the invasion of Iraq. It also had an axis from "rehabilitation internationalist" at one end to "hanging/flogging Eurosceptic" at the other (no hidden assumptions built in there, then  ) and had me well over at the "internationalist" end even though I had also explicity answered that I strongly favoured British withdrawal from the EU. Wouldn't that make me a Eurosceptic?

The survey was compiled by a clown. It isn't worth bothering with.

It might be that the profile painted of an individual does not match precisely because the answers to the questions are being pulled both left/right and top/bottom. However, if UKIP is deciding what new policies to adopt it does give a map of the proportion likely to be in favour or opposed to any new initiative. This, I would have thought, is a step forward from a left/right distribution and a lot better than no information at all!
