Mike had every right to clarify the situation. Mike and his office had many enquiries as to the 'illegal' letter. Many were not happy and thought that Mike was endorsing 'ski'. THe WM committe exceded their authority in sending out the letter (they even used out of date data). The matter will be dealt with by the approprate means in due course.
AND FOR ROB: I'LL PUT THIS IN CAPITALS AS I HAVE SAID IT HERE BEFORE BUT YOU DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND - IN THE NEW CONSTITUTION IT ALLOWS THE LEADER TO CREATE ANY POST HE SEES FIT - INC DEPUTY LEADER! GOT IT? Roger has and it is Mike Nikki |

Does this mean the leader can create a bunch of new officers of his choice to outvote everybody else? |

It is largely academic now because the new leader will be taking over soon, but it is a situation that could very easily have been avoided with a bit of communication from the top (i.e. Roger). |

The new constitution (which I opposed) remained silent on the matter of Deputy Leader. THerefore there was no express change. Piers retracted his comment. Without doubt the formal UKIP position is that Mike is Deputy Leader. All academic anyway as it will all change in a few weeks.
The Party database must not be used for campaigning purposes. The West Midlands Committee abused this. (albeit an old copy (17 months old - waste of money for some were no longer members). If they were confident in their actions why did they not legitimately request an up to date copy of WM members? If this letter was not sent out Mike would have made no comment. However, hewas seen by many to support ski by the said letter Nikki
