Even the Europeans oppose EU working time rules

"This says it all," said Godfrey Bloom MEP in response to a survey in the Financial Times that reveals that most Europeans oppose the drive to shorter working hours. "For years the EU has prided itself on introducing ever more onerous regulations on business", he said, "but now we learn that the people that they have been supposedly working for want to have no truck with them".
"Every year the EU pumps out hundreds of new regulations that have had the cumulative effect of making it uneconomic to be active in the economy". Mr Bloom, the spokesman on employment for the UK Independence Party went on, "Decisions over how long somebody wants to work should be made by the employers and employees, not by a bunch of bureaucrats who have no experience of work outside their taxpayer protected bubbles.
“The discovery that 65% of Germans and 52% of the French want to do away with these absurd restrictions on endeavour is most enlightening. Who knows, maybe the fact that people want to work, and to provide for themselves and their families without continual nannying from the EU and their own governments, might filter through to those in power, but I am not holding my breath".
