Default Noakes: Why has UKIP's leadership failed to get us out?

For ten years we seem to have only been allowed an ineffective leadership.

If good UKIP people stand up they are cut down; and for years in their place ineffective cronies have been appointed at the expense of the party. The performance of these cronies has been abysmal. As a result over those ten years huge numbers of members have left UKIP, the big donors have left, and voters don't see UKIP as serious. Worse, these cronies have losing the battle against the EU hand over fist.

Nigel Farage was one of the four founder members of this party. For the last ten years he has controlled it. At the last leadership election Ian Gillman was a valid leadership candidate. Nigel Farage and his cronies forced Ian to stand down. Yes, Nigel's power in this party is such that he could appoint Roger Knapman as leader without an election.

The performance of our leadership under Nigel Farage's control and cronies has been embarrasing.

In 13 years Nigel has proved he hasn't a clue how to get us out of Europe. In his two page flier that went out with the ballots, he now says we simply double our EU election vote next time, we become the majority UK party in the EU parliament, and our position becomes untenable.

Does Nigel really have so little understanding of the EU? Firstly its unlikely we'll be the majority party, and even if we had 200 seats in the EU Parliament, anyone with an understanding of the EU treaties and Constitution knows that Parliament has no power and won't change anything.

Nigel misses the point too often. On Newsnight, the 8th August 2006 Nigel missed the opportunity on immigration.

Nigel underestimated the number of immigrants. The government is too guilty to give us figures, but according to city firm Capital Economics 900,000 immigrants came here last year.

Nigel made the usual mistake of asking the government to do something about it. He should, of all people, know it can't. All control over our immigation was handed to the EU in the 1997 Amsterdam Treaty, and since then the EU has let in up to 4 million people. Stand on any London street corner and you can hear them.

It is part of the EU's deliberate campaign to remove our identity as a nation so we can be easily assimilated into the EU dictatorship.

Nigel suggested asking the EU to veto the accession of Bulgaria and Romania. That won't do it. Repealing the 1997 Amsterdam Treaty would.

Nigel cannot learn. He's still saying the EU costs us 40 billion a year, when the Better Regulation Commission Annual Report, signed by Tony Blair, says the annual cost of implementing EU regulations alone is now 100 billion a year, or nearly 10% of our economy.

Even the Labour Party thinks the cost of the EU is 100bn more than the leadership of UKIP.

Nigel is so far behind where the EU is now there is no hope of him catching up with the position on the ground.

Instead of continuous campaigns Nigel has wasted members time with petitions, when every petition, no matter how massive, has failed over the last 20 years, and when it is patently obvious our undemocratic EU masters in Westminster will simply put them in the rubbish bin. Clearly, he does not understand what he is fighting.

By elections are great for UKIP; people feel free to vote for what they want instead of their party loyalties. Polls show nearly 60% of British people don't want Europe. But only 8% voted for Nigel, who is an expert in Lib Lab Con yah boo politics, but it seems, doesn't know how to campaign effectively against the EU. A man who, even with the luxury of 13 years preparation, still cannot convince voters of the dangers of the EU, is not the man we want for party leader.

At Bromley he said Vote Blue Labour get New Labour. No, this is not your familiar yah boo politics, this is a war of Independence. Its Vote Conservative, get the EU dictatorship. The sooner you start telling the truth, the sooner you'll get out.

UKIP has the most desirable political message in centuries. A choice between Soviet style slavery in Europe, or Freedom and Independence with Britain, the fourth largest economy in the world. It should have been like falling off a log. And yet we got 2.4%. If you keep doing the same thing, in the same way, with the same old leaders, you will get the same result.

If you re-elect Nigel as our leader, UKIP's next 4 years will be wasted like the last 13 years. But Britain hasn't got four years.

In 13 years Nigel has proved he does not know how to get us out of Europe, and his stranglehold on the party needs to be broken.

If you stop him and his crony leadership, you will get a full, effective leadership chosen on merit. Any team member who isn't performing will go. Democracy will back that up: and all of us in the leadership will face an automatic vote of confidence at the Annual Conference. Finances will be transparent and audited on time. Probity will be enforced. Then the donations, members and votes will return.

The European Union, like the Soviet Union, is an extreme organisation. We need to use radical methods to get us out.
