Is the £100k mentioned in connection with the Bromley bye-election the amount confirmed and submitted as the actual expenses or a guess by him.
Well he does say "around" £100k. As MM well knows, the hierarchy have yet to divulge the actual number. 'Independence' mentions £65k, at which level I personally think the substance of DN's point would still stand.

The NEC were told that the total was over £85K, but that may include expenses before the official period began, which would account for a submission of £65K to the EC.

I thought that, if a candidate declared intent beforehand, that was sufficient to count as the start-of-expenses date, under the current (recently changed) rules. In the last Euros, I seriously rattled a Lib-Dem listmember, by mentioning he had just started his electoral account running, as he left a TV studio. He referred to himself as a spokesman' thereafter, until the official flag dropped!

Personally, I view the expenditure in Bromley as a cause for deep shame - not on the part of those who gave selflessly, but in how it was used. If Nigel's bragging results in a fine or court action against UKIP, as well it might if a complaint is lodged, it should be a cause for resignation, and I mean from both the party and the MEP seat.

He evidently thinks he's indispensable. Some of us are wondering if he's merely incorrigable.

The shameful part is the lack of results. Nigel is not necessarily our best candidate: even his secretary got a greater proportion of the vote in the GE (New Forest) despite him and his sidekick Croucher picking what was thought to be our best prospect (Ramsgate) for him to stand. The other cause of shame is the dirty-tricks machinery being fully deployed in the leadershup election. You could understand it if we were in or near power, but the purges and mud-slinging are just a dangerous and undemocratic habit which sullies the image of our cause.
We need a real change. Like the NEC running the party for instance.

"Like the NEC running the party for instance"

This latest NEC can't even determine who is Party Secretary.

Are you sure that the muddy waters are totally down to the NEC?

From your statement you obviously have some prior knowledge that previous ones were better? Or just more compliant?

By the way when did you last stand for the NEC?

Alternatively if you have served, when and in your humble opinion in what manner was that NEC superior?

Hopefully we will not go too far off topic.

That was just a statement of fact and drew no comparisons.I used the word latest as inclusive of Richardski,Butcher,Chant etc

I have never stood for the NEC but I know many members past and present including many no longer in the party( their having left for Veritas or even nowhere).

You may not be aware that part of the reason for the delay in the accounts is due to incoming entrants onto the NEC,namely Richardski,Butcher,Chant etc making insulting ,demanding and nonensical requests of the professionally qualified now ex-Treasurer.He quite rightly did not seek re-election and no doubt the new incumbent will be subjected to the same ignorance.

Regarding questions at the NEC to the Treasurer I am only aware of the comments made from the platform at the Exeter hustings.

In that there were 30 odd questions that had been asked. All but three had been answered since the Treasurer had departed. When Nigel stated that the questions had been answered satisfactorily I believe Richard replied 'they have been answered.'

I would expect incoming members of any committee to be asking questions about the accounts. I do not know whether or not they were nonsense. I would expect that satifactorily and accountable answers would have been provided to the elected members.

You have to remember above all else: NEC members are liable for any party debts. Not the leader, not the MEPs.

I would expect any new NEC member to make very sure about what any potential obligations were, so they could resign ASAP if needbe...
