Any new policy should have a group of members asking hostile questions and picking holes in what we propose - that way loopholes can be closed and defences prepared.

As a matter of compulsory standard procedure, any policy drafting initiative like this MUST
a) be put to the NEC for comment before release
b) be open to the membership for a fixed comment period
ONLY then should it be finalised & released.

This is needed to
a) Stop UKIP looking stupid by allowing a step for constructive criticism of loopholes and anomolies which need designing out in the final version
b) Show that the leadership has changed its mindset from a closed gentlemens' club dictatorship with contempt for the members to a mindset of actively wanting member participation in broadening UKIP's agenda.

Is it possible that this document will be tweaked and polished up in the near future, or are we stuck with it as it is indefinitely?

Well, the leadership has published it to the world.

I downloaded it fine. Have you tried again?

According to my word search, the word "languages" occurs once:
Quote:
While it will never be possible to ensure that any particular grade in one subject will indicate
precisely the same level of academic ability as the same grade in every other subject,
we will aim to ensure that as far as possible there will be no subjects, either at GCSE or
“A” level, which are seen as being easier than others. The fact that between 1997 and 2004
the number of “A” level entries for physics, maths and modern languages fell, in some
cases by over one third, whereas the entries for media & TV studies increased by over
200% casts strong suspicion on this being currently the case.

I was rather hoping that they would say that every child should learn two languages.
It would help the children in later life, and the country. It would also prove that UKIP is a party that is international in outlook and not xenophobic.

It tries not be too prescriptive.

I'd actually disagree with your idea. Some children are good at words, some children are good at numbers, a lucky few are good at both, many are good at neither.

For many children learning a second language is a hard grind. For them, learning a third language would be a waste of time.

Schoolchildren abroad manage to learn languages,so unless we are thicker than them,we could do the same.
Perhaps its the method of teaching that doesn`t get results here.
