With leadership election pressure running high, there has been some comment about the address used in the advert in the current edition of the Spectator. The address used is my official one as Party Chairman. My predecessors also used that address.

Correspondence sent to me there is dealt with by my P.A. and is forwarded to me automatically.

So the general view re. this incident and the new education policy etc is that UKIP should abstain from any activity whatever for the entire duration of the leadership election?

Certainly not my view, whatever you think of the individual initiatives.

I would say that's what we do most of the time, but that would be harsh.

I think as party money is being used, either the current leader, who has no issues of electioning to think about would have been ideal.

Even more ideal, would have to wait until the new leader was in place and combine this with other things to create a major offensive from the start.

The timing stinks, it's as simple as that.

If anything I'd suggest it is a little later than it could have been ,but in any event any future stars would have four years to groom themselves for potential leadership.
