That is the South East regional office. I was not aware DCB operated from there.

OK, so let's see where we are so far.

Without the knowledge of the NEC, let alone its consent, the leadership are seeking candidates from outside the party - not members, candidates.

Cabal indeed. Is this some private members' club I've stumbled into by accident?

This sort of advert is reminiscent of the one that was put out on the Party Website before the last Westminster Elections that by-passed the branches. Obviously this is another of the centralist notions of NF and DCB.

Is there a budget for this sort of thing or is it more ad-hockery?

As someone has already said, it would have been nice to have been told about it.

What is that saying Nigel uses, "We are a grass roots Party". I think we must have withered in the recent drought.

This is absolutely staggering. At the sensitive time of our leadership election our Chairman, who is a leadership candidate, based in Nigel Farage's office who is also a leadership candidate, places an advert in the Spectator for external candidates with NO reference to the NEC???????
Somebodies head should roll but don't hold your breath as the current hierarchy of UKIP are in this together and pay lip service to the views us mere ordinary members.

DCB recently explained failing to receive an email sent to partychairman@ukip.org, because David Samuel-Camps (who runs S/E office) was away. He suggested I resend to his personal email...

[quote="C_steam"]This is the Spectator Ad:-

Quote:
GOOD CANDIDATES – WE WANT YOU !
..............
Candidates will be selected on merit and capability alone. No arbitrary quota, race-based or gender discrimination criteria will be applied. A track record demonstrating a love of country, genuine principles, Eurosceptic credentials and hard work will be sufficient......
Eurosceptic credentials ? Really?

"A Eurosceptic is some-one who believes in the European Union but wants to change it from within. I am proud to be called a Eurosceptic"
Rt Hon David Heathcoat-Amory MP, Conservative Wells (Somerset) Constituency. Politics Show on a Sunday, May 2005 during the Genral Election.

That definition cost him votes locally, and will cost him again next time round.

UKIP is not a Eurosceptic Party on the above definition. Some-one tell DCB for God's sake, and his and UKIP's sakes.

Good point, Colin. A sceptic is a doubter, ie. one who has not made up his mind. I always cringe when I see people who claim to be anti-EU describe themselves as "eurosceptic". It is accepting the language of the enemy, which is always a mistake in any debate.

There has in the past been an approved candidates list for Westminster Elections so no problem getting it up and running again in good time for the next elections. Not sure about all local candidates anywhere in the country having to contact the South East Office, unless the Chairman intends to personally vet thoudands of hopefulls? Do previous candidates also need to apply to go in the list? I also assume membership of UKIP would be a requirement at some point. I think the big three require candidates to have been party members for a qualifying period before being accepted, unless special circumstances apply?

Why the Spectator, is it cheap, or are the sort of candidates UKIP wants known to be Spectator readers?

But the thing is, if you go to the trouble of advertising, you must have a system in place for dealing with the applications, such as an information pack and slick application form. And then a procedure for dealing with the applications and interviews.

Perhaps all be revealed in Independence which I think should have appeared before the advert.
