The Labour man is actually Frank Field, which makes the debate even more interesting!
For your information, C_Steam, the BBC contacted Nigel directly as he has proven himself on many occasions to be a superb panelist on these programmes. |

First class effort from Nigel on the show tonight, in a three against one situation.
He looked angry in a calm way to back up what he had to say, so that the whole effect was strong. The Labour woman (McTaggart) was manifestly talking ********, as was the IPPR bloke - I'm sure most people watching would have thought that. Usefully, Polly Toynbee was sounding like UKIP initially, arguing that Eastern European immigration was about pushing down wages for the poorest and benefitting the rich (later she moved to her usual stance of how the EU is the source of all virtue and happiness, etc.). (I wonder why Frank F. wasn't included.) |

I wondered about that. I guess they used the charming Fiona as the stories in the papers today were about Slough and she is the MP for the town.
I was quite surprised at Ms Toynbee for a minute, but did you see her face when she was told she was agreeing with UKIP! And what was that nonsense about the EU being good at developing economies? Is that why the EU is a sinking ship? |

I, for one, will be pleased when the leadership campaign is over, so that we can start serious politics again.
It was a major shift for John Reid to state that it is foolish to accuse anyone who raises the issue of immigration of being racist and to invite debate. This is an issue that, if handled intelligently, could carry UKIP back to the center ground in British politics. As NF said, there is little now that can be done to prevent immigration from the Eastern European countries - the government miscalculated and, as things stand, we are simply at the mercy of the choices made by individuals in these countries as to how high immigration will go! |

I missed the show but will watch it shortly on Broadband.
But this just goes to show what UKIP is becoming. We are trying to shrug off our single issue party tag but are heading towards a single man party. This is the most important time in the history of UKIP and we must make the right choice with our leader. |

Nigel also made plain that even in relation to the Poles already here the problem will now go further out of control due to their starting to become entitled to benefits, council housing and the like, and bringing over the rest of their families now they know how the land lies.
Interesting that the Tories had no one willing or invited to appear. |
