In reply to my posting Michael Mcgough wrote,

"Brian,Chelmsford is near to Southend than Newmarket so why didn't you go last saturday?"

I don't have to justify my actions in this matter, but as it happens I was away on holiday. However, I hope he will be pleased to know that I am going to the hustings in London tomorrow as a penance.

I'm very pleased Brian---I'm sure you'll enjoy it.I hope for the sake of the party it is well attended and with all contenders taking part it should prove lively.

Then surely it must be the duty of either branch secretaries, Chairmen, whatever (who must be on the net) to print off details of the runners and riders and post/deliver same to local members. Works for me and I'm not even on the committee.

Some do it, some don't.

Some branches are just as dysfunctional as the party itself.

Some branches believe their candidate can only lose it, so shhhhhhhh.

Some branches don't have people on the committee on the internet (believe it).

Some branches are lazy and think the centre should be advertsing this sort of thing.

Personaly, I think this is one area where the centre should be organised and make sure all members are aware. Because it is in the whole parties interests to have an infomed membership, making this important decision.

Hear hear.

Postage, is expensive if you have a large membership and not much money. I find the telephone is a good way of communicating, free at weekends and 5p for an hour after 6 o'clock. They also appreciate the personal touch.

If we do their job for them they'll never get it right.
