Default UKIP the policy lite party

New policies are fine and well. But the policies you already have need to be publicised, updated and tested.

Who now can recite the 5 somethings launched a few months ago?

I've picked this up on my blog.

Parking tanks on the Tory Party's lawn. I remember it well and thought it was a bit of a backfiring stunt. It got the publicity alright, but it failed to attract Tory members or voters because it was perceived as a daft stunt that backed up what Cameron had said, although not the closet racist bit. A quiet protest with good leaflets outlining policies and asking 'Are these frutcake policies, in your opinion?' would have worked a lot better I think. Answering an unreasonable insult with grace would be far more devastating than stunts.

There is an interesting comment piece in the Guardian by Roy Hattersley today, here:

http://politics.guardian.co.uk/colum...822248,00.html

His description of Tory voters gives some insight as to why non-voting ones, like at Bromely, do not vote UKIP instead. There is more to attracting voters than policies.

For myself, I am leaving the Tory Party now I know they cannot reform the EU and I will renew my subscription with UKIP when it comes in a month or two, regardless of who is chosen as leader.

PS My guess is that the emphasis of these policies has not been discussed much lately because of the leadership election.

I like your blog, BTW John, I've been reading it lately.
