Westminster in the background is clearly a popular theme Interestingly, Gerard Batten is choosing to support DCB over Nigel Farage. |

I like the meta description:

![]() I guess it was built by the same person who did this one: http://www.gitesdesfigues.com/ There is a lot more content on DCB's site than Nigel's. He does appear to have a vision of how the party should proceed. Quote:

What will happen when they disagree though? They clearly have very different visions for where the party should be. Nigel wants us to be an anti-EU pressure group, yet DCB states:

First impression, as someone who knows next to nothing about DCB (and ignoring the html errors) is that this is a serious, quality candidate.
I'll read through the PDF later, and it is hard to explain, but it just 'feels' right. Any way, that is my first impression. That is certainly good for the leadership election. |

I agree. I think that DCB is a far better candidate than Nigel in terms of offering an intellectual base/vision for the party. However, his willingness to bow down to Nigel is extremely worrying - we need someone strong who is going to get Nigel into line and working with the party image/message, not just doing what he wants, as happens now.
We need one leader not two, and I think that it is a bizarre admission that he can't control Nigel. |

My principle concern with him and other members of the inner circle is their willingness to attack the messenger rather than the message. Far too often he and others engage in personal attacks rather than dealing with the questions, criticims or suggestions raised. It is extremely unprofessional. To be fair to him, I think that he has got some decent ideas about reorganisation, and is putting them into place. He has also organised some proper research from the Brussels researchers. I don't recall seeing him ever standing up to Farage or bringing him to order when he has had one of his shouting tantrums in the NEC meetings; I don't think that he copes well with confrontation. This causes genuine disruption in the meetings, which run noticeably smoother when Nigel is absent. On the flip side, he does always try to allow people to have their say which is good. I have noticed a tendency for him to invent powers for himself as well, in a rather dictatorial manner, and if he was leader we would need a very strong NEC to stand up to him. I think that he would be useful in an organisational role in the party if he would accept some more discipline, but I don't think that he is strong enough to stand up to Nigel and would end up as a his poodle in Britain. Six hours for an NEC meeting really isn't long enough, to be honest, especially since so many NEC members are unwilling to engage in constructive discussion and decision making between meetings. |
