Default BBC coverage

UKIP leadership election is big news it seems.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/5169656.stm

I must admit to being slightly surprised that this has featureed on the BBC website of all places.

They still have Del in. That's because of the unprofessional way the announcement appears on our site. I've e-mailed the BBC.

Fair play to the BBC for at least acknowledging it is taking place.

I realise we won't get the running coverage that the Tories did of their "election", but some coverage is waranted.

Perhaps they could be persuaded to give the lowdown on each of the candidates at some point.

I would hope each of the candidates will also approach the press too. It will be interesting to see if any of the candidates can generate coverage themselves.

They have fixed the mistake:
Quote:
A total of four candidates are to fight to succeed Roger Knapman as leader of the UK Independence Party.
Nigel Farage, leader of UKIP's MEPs, is the favourite to take over. The result of the vote is due on 12 September.

His rivals include party chairman David Campbell Bannerman, chairman of UKIP Wales Richard Suchorzewski and David Noakes.

Yes, they have fixed it, but you don't see the UKIP story unless you search for UKIP on the BBC News site as far as I can see. Oh well - there's not much more we can do.

Even the BBC can't ignore the fact that 10 of the 87 MEPS in their beloved European Parliament are from UKIP.

That is a fair proportion of the total to completely ignore.

Why not ask the BBC to put links to candidates' websites? IIRC they did so for the Tory and LibDim leadership elections.
