Tell it as it is, but it has to be larded with an impression of not being "obsessive" or into conspiracies.
I want to hear it as it is, but on the whole the public don't in my view, at least not too stridently - frustrating though it is. |

The other 3 candidates can cover the same ground as David Noakes (and do when they judge it appropriate), but they can also offer a different tone. Being sensitive to frightening people into stopping listening is not telling lies.

Scaring people is not a nice thing to do and could also be seen as fearmongering to get your own way. Blair does is all the time (albeit with a bit of a subtle approach), the Nazi's do it in a more blunt fashion.

There's a difference between 'telling it as it is' and asking people not to believe the evidence of their own eyes. I personally don't know anyone who has been tortured, imprisoned or murdered by the EU. Possibly the British government has gone a bit far recently, but this was almost entirely of their own bat. We may believe that the EU is bad for our nation's economic position or that the laws they make allow to much power to be wielded by the unelected, but this is just bad, and sadly commonplace government around the world - it is not a police state. It isn't 'telling it straight' it's hyperbole.

It is somewhat hyperbolic at present, though the process of taking away our individual freedoms across just about every area of life (and graciously forcing their version of "rights") is plain enough and needs to be resisted and stopped.
The structure of an embryonic police state exists. But if you bang on about it too much this is likely to be counter-productive with the British people. |
