Many do struggle to make ends meet; Noakes' team would need to do the research to back up the claim re 'half of our taxes are wasted...'

Not a reason for voting for another candidate, per se. However, he's not going to do anything about making our party more electable with his current policies. That IS a good reason to vote for another candidate.

Half our tax is wasted? Even the wildest Tory 'tax wastage' reports don't come any where near that. Has David Noakes performed a complete audit of the British government finances to be able to make such a claim? Does he know something that is hidden from everyone else?

It sounds far more like a slogan he made up because it sounds good to me.

One of my main goals for the future of the party is that we become more credible. That means an end to conspiracy theories, exaggerations, statistical manipulation and policy made without thorough research (especially where it differs from the 'norm').

Spot on, Anthony. This is the way to build up credibility with the media so they will take you seriously and give you some positive coverage. Hacks are not stupid. They know a dumb policy when they see one, and they particularly object to being misled.

It takes a long time to build up good relationships with journos and UKIP's new leader will have a lot of negative baggage to throw overboard, but it is never too late to start.

Until our credibility is more established, we should use only publicly available numbers.

Depends on your definition of waste I guess. I actually believe a good half of our tax is wasted, but it is true that that is just guesswork and as a party guesswork is no use what-so-ever.

I'm more concerned at the authortarian language he uses, over what is clearly one of his pet hates.

Mind, he would probably get on well with a few of the current leaders on that score.

He is a wildly exaggerating scaremonger who lives on a different planet, what he says is backed up by very little evidence. Fruitcakes and loonies was never more apt.......

I support much of what David says, and let us not ignore the huge ammount of delving and uncovering that he has done. He has clarified much of what has happened in treaties etc. He is not my first choice for leader but I understand he gets on well with Richard Ski. I am sure he would be invaluable in providing positive assistance.

The man is a scary reactionary.

For all the fear that Nigel won't take the party forward, there is a worse scenario, sharp reverse, and that is what David would bring. I can't believe that he has any chance, but the number of votes he receives will be a very good indicator of how many fruitcakes really do exist in ukip.

Because GL-W thinks Noakes is fantastic his take on the candidate is one of the few parts of his 'communiqué' that can be reproduced without risking a libel writ.

Quote:
David Noakes
An excellent candidate, with a very dedicated, if a little tunnel visioned, approach to the job. His web site is excellent: www.vote-David.com a dedicated campaigner against Common Purpose, corruption and those assosciated with it. Determined to bring the unarguable, clear and simple message that these United Kingdoms are sliding into an out of control Police State with corrupt foreign politicians imposing law not Justice without any concept of democracy or duty. David would make a leader but I can not vouch for his commitment to the broad gamut of UKIP's needs. He is personable, competent and would be high on my team if I was taking on the challenges of putting UKIP on an even keel for the future. He clearly has IT skills and determination, a sound knowledge of EU Doctrine and Treaties. If David is not elected I would hope he would have a clear role with a new leader from outside the old crew!
Unless Mr Noakes firmly reputiates Lance-Watkins's support I certainly won't consider voting for him

Saw David Noakes last night at Rainhill.

What he says about the "EU police state" and the like is no doubt a true summing up of what is developing, but we know that the public is not receptive to this blunt, evangelical sort of message - at least not at the present time.

We need a more subtle approach which can explain these things alongside offering a more gentle, familiar take on British politics.
