Anyone who actually did any canvassing would have realised that 3rd position was the best we were going to obtain.

The amount of times I heard the words "I'm sick of this elections, I just throw the leaflets in the bin" was alarming.

The biggest thing to depress me, was the amount of people who feel just as I do about things, but have chosen to remove themselves from the process. It's very hard to turn someone around once they have lost all respect for the system.

My genuine commiserations to all the UKIP foot soldiers at Bromley but could someone who was there tell me:-

What was Nigel's / UKIP's main election message ?

Are the election leaflet(s) reproduced electronically anywhere so as I could have a look?

Were really only 50 people polled about their voting intentions or is this a figure that Anthony has inserted to justify the possibility of statistical insignificance?

Main message was to attack the Tories - rather than attack the LibDems or Labour!

That was purely my suggestion... ask 50 people, 11 say 'UKIP' = 22%

I just can't see how we got to that number. Steve Allison mentions 18-20% in his thank you letter and claims that support dropped off dramatically in the last three days. BUT that would mean that something in the region of 3000 people independently decided not to vote for us in the last three days. Does that sound realistic?

The main message was to attack the Tory candidate, using immigration, low taxation, pulling out of the EU and being tough on crime.

The message was that Bob wanted the opposite of those things.

Of course, people probably asked how one UKIP MP could make any difference on those scores, but that goes for any of the candidates.

I thought some of the leaflets were very good actually. We definitely over did it though, when you consider the Lib Dems were hammering the area too. I know I voted Tory once (only once) because I was fed up with all the Lib Dem **** they put through my door. Maybe that cost us and the Lib Dems more success.
