Default New 'improved' inefficiency.

I called Newton Abbott to get the telephone number of the campaign office in Bromley.

Instant success!

Er ... except I took down the wrong number.
So I called back to correct it and was given the same number.
I told 'em it was incorrect and they promised to get back to me as soon as they had the correct number.
Gotta feel sorry for the poor gal whose number it really is ...

That was gross inefficiency #1

It took me less than a minute to find out what is the correct number and it was answered by David Lott and we had an interesting chat which lasted about ten minutes.

I then called Newton Abbott again to say not to waste time calling me back ... and I got a surprised response ... surprised that I'd found the proper number so quickly ... they had not yet accomplished that stupendous feat.
Really! Sheesh - it only takes a minute ...

That was gross inefficiency #2.

What with a new 'improved' NEC which isn't and a new 'improved' set up in Newton Abbott which isn't ...

I dunno ..

.. you just seem unable to get good help these days.

(And if anyone suggests there may just be one or two sour grapes in there they're probably right)

The NEC isn't really new at all is it. It has an injection of new faces every year, but the main bulk of the old NEC always remains.

Yes, Matt.
Unfortunately I do not trust all the new faces.

This is really nothing to do with the NEC. We don't have any role in the day-to-day running of the party. It is the responsibility of the Chairman and the General Secretary to ensure that things run smoothly. I believe that the moving procedure is still taking place and so we do need to have some patience while the new staff get to grips with their new roles.

I know 'tis nothing to do with the NEC - I didn't mean to imply it was.

Two separate subjects really: one, the giving out of an incorrect telephone number and then after being informed of the problem they were creating, still hadn't resolved it fifteen minutes later.
That is inexuseable.

Two - my lack of trust re the NEC.

That they were both in the same post suggests the two are related - they are not, not at all.

Sorry there was a misunderstanding.
